Damn. My brother isn’t answering my texts, hope he’s just busy.

I just saw this too. I am so sad for the victims and their families.
My d was downtown this afternoon. We can’t reach her. don’t think she was in that area. I’m sure she is ok.
And it looks like it’s terrorism. Death toll is at least 8.11 seriously injured. The suspect is in custody. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/least-one-person-dead-incident-lower-manhattan-n816166
The area is near Stuyvesant High School and a public elementary school .School bus struck.
I’ll admit I’m glad I’m not going to the Halloween Parade tonight.
Police briefing just ended.
This scared and distressed me, too. My older daughter let me know she’s okay, but so many folks aren’t after this incident.
Brother checked in. And wow, bizarre sort of attack. He had a pellet gun??
@OHMomof2 I’m so glad you’ve heard from your brother.
I thought of @“Cardinal Fang” as soon as I saw it was bikers (though I know she’s not in NY).
He had a paintball gun and a pellet gun. This seems… odd. I’m not sure how else to describe it. It reeks of desperation though.
I hope I am not breaking the rules here , but I have been cringing about recent reports of Isis being defeated and turning themselves in war zones…I feel like it should be kept quiet to a certain extent because some lone wolves will be motivated to strike …so sad and also, so angry !
And he has a FL license, from Tampa. So why in NY?
When. will. this. stop?
Too soon to be talking like that. Only thoughts and prayers are appropriate at this time.
I had a feeling once I saw that it was a rental truck…
Yes, he had “fake guns” so was he not able to buy a gun or was it just easier this way? Did he intend to commit suicide by cop?
I feel so bad for the victims and all the witnesses.
Why there? It’s mere blocks from the Trade Center.
I think so, yes.
Too soon to be talking like what, @emilybee ? All thoughts and comments are reasonable.
That’s the response we get in the wake of mass shootings: now isn’t the time to talk.
Terrorist attack? We start working on measures right away. For example, sidewalks are immediately blocked off. The security will be significantly increased and cars stopped for this Halloween parade.
I couldn’t help but think that the Stuyvesant high school kids on lockdown have apps that are due tomorrow.
But thankful that they don’t appear to be among the injured
^^Decades ago Stuyvesant high school was in a different location, near Stuy town. Moved to TriBeCa in the 90’s.
That wouldn’t have stopped the stories, @wisteria100
There will always be a way for extremists to commit violent acts , no matter what measures of security are taken to prevent them
