you have the OPTION to send your AP grades into the college you apply to. its not required
Most colleges don’t even look at them in considering applicants; those that do tend to use it solely for class placements. the SAT subject tests are far more importantand failing an AP wont make it or break it for you

i dont think the curve is going to be as gracious as it has been for previous years.
i was freaking out before i even started the MC, but after it i felt a bit confident.
i felt like all the specifics i learned in history was for nothing, though.

Comparing it to last year, which was considered much harder, in respect to the FRQs, I feel like this years was a little more difficult. Although the multiple choice wasn’t terribly difficult, it was harder than the released 2007 ones. The wording for the comparative essay was pretty terrible, and it seems that a lot of people will have either not written this essay or just misinterpreted it. These factors combined, it seems like the curve this year will be generous.

I think that people need to stop freaking out over the curve. The curve never fluctuates by more than a couple of points from year to year. It’s not going to jump ten points just because a small, nonrandom sample of people who just happens to be extremely motivated and intelligent thinks that the MC was easy.

but yeah, it was kinda sad. on the frqs in my testing room, when there were like 20 minutes left, everyone was done. Except for me. That should give you guys an idea of how badly some people are going to bomb the frqs.

Raw Score (including -0.25 for each wrong answer) x 0.8571 =
DBQ Grade x 2.2222 =
Compare and Contrast Grade x 2.2222 =
Continuity/Change Over Time Grade x 2.2222 =
Add them all together without rounding till the end.

My thoughts of today exam: really really easy! Easiest exam I have during the AP weeks. I’m really glad that the FR were based on those topics. MC was really easy, too, but i skipped eleven because some of them were recent/modern history. I did not study much on this topic.

Maybe it’s me, but I think 2 hours is more than enough, infact, too much time for 3 essays IMO. I had 1/2 hour left and I thought I wrote thoroughly for all 3 and did as best as I could (not saying I got 9’s on all of them).

2 hours is definitely NOT “more than enough”. JUST barely enough, I’d say. I always spend a lot of time on DBQs. I spent around 1 hour and 10 minutes on the DBQ, and then like, 30 on the CoT and 30 on the CC. Those two never take me very long to finish.

Ah well, I can see how it depends on the person. Reading through, organizing, and processing the DBQ’s take less than 5 minutes for me always, and so the “5” minutes spare time I was thinking about my intro/thesis. And I finished the essay in 1/2 hour.

Change/Continuity and Compare/Contrast each took me 1/2 hour, and I was taking it really slowly and thinking it out too…eh.

I thought Free Response was a breeze, my only challenge was compiling the volume of information for the Silk Roads over such a long period (my least organized essay).

The multiple choice went better than expected, but I always spend too much time on questions I can’t get and make careless mistakes on easy ones. I just CANNOT bear skipping a question, I know I’m a bad test taker but it bothers me

@ Invoyable
I just thought that if it doesn’t take someone that long to complete the frq, they probably didn’t know much about it. But i guess you’re the exception…

I think that my COT was not very organized but I presented good ideas.
