princeton review really saved me.
it really saved me.

It took me an hour for the DBQ and the Change and Cont was okay but the Compare and COntrast was straight BS. I knew the subject but couldn’t think clearly due to only 20 minutes left when I started. I don’t get why they included North America in one of the essays we’re in World history they know full well APUSH is NEXT year. So this essay couldn’t be so in depth as they always look for.

I used Barron’s and honestly I got lucky. Princeton review had a lot of review on other potential essay topics whereas Barron’s cut the BS and just spat out the facts. The only places where it truly emphasized certain materials were to me, were the DBQ and the CoT. Of course, the CC was bad for everyone. Also, princeton review specifically referenced similarities and differences between cultures and barron’s left you to think about it yourself

Princeton Review was a Godsend for this essay. I thought about getting Barrons, but specific facts are for the actual AP World class. If you don’t know the specifics after the class, cramming with Barrons wouldn’t help anyway. Besides, AP World is all about the broader view of things about making connections, so the Princeton Review book is by far superior.

As for the exam itself, I thought the MC and the first two essays were easy. I completely BSed the CC essay, as I knew nothing about it. I spent an hour on the DBQ and 30 on the other two essays each. I finished my last sentence right as the proctor called time.

I thought the MC portion was pretty easy. But the CC really ripped me a new one…

compared to all the other practice tests, the MC wasn’t as hard…but I wouldn’t classify it as really really easy unless I was pretty sure I got a perfect score. There was like 10 I wasn’t sure about, 2-3 I had no idea (it wasn’t even in my textbook)…And I HATED that picture of the building cause I couldn’t even make out what it was, it just looked like a blob.
DBQ: eh, I did my best, but since I don’t really know how to analyze documents, how do I know?
COT: I am SO MAD, because I was telling my friends a week before the test, “Wow last year it was Indian Ocean, so this year it’s going to be _______”. But I didn’t really believe it, so I didn’t study the topic, and I couldn’t remember things…so I totally bsed it. The essay was really unorganized, just like “this remained continual…oh, and this changed…”
CC: I thought this wasn’t that bad, just that I went out of the time frame by like 30 years for a whole paragraph.I don’t know if I made connections and stuff though.

On the whole, the test was much easier than I expected. I thought it would be impossible, and I would totally blank, and I didn’t. I feel pretty confident for a 4, hopefully and 5. But the thing is, usually the more confident I am for a test the worse I do, so I dunno.

don’t really understand why people write mroe than 3 pages for an essay. Sounds like they are very shaky in their abilities, or just bsing. Dbq is the only one where you could use 3 pages, but it’s probably because you don’t know how to use an elipsis(sp?) in your quote support. It takes about 2 pages if you have a good structure to hit every point. Think of the essays as of the biology rather than english language. Hit the needed points on the rubric and you are guaranteed an 8(you will definately get a bonus point) or a 6 if you miss a point.

For the essays, I thought it was better to go with quantity over quality…Say you hit 20 points, but only 5 of them are correct, then you’ll get the score anyways…If you have 5 points, the safety net is much smaller. Personally I had 4 pgs for the dbq, 3 for COT, and 2 and 1/2 for CC, which isn’t that much.

Edit: A question I have: What if my handwriting is REALLY bad? Are they still going to try to read it?

^yes, they will still try to read it. I mean, unless its like IMPOSSIBLE to read, then i wouldn’t worry. my writing was oddly neat, except that i had blacked out portions and carats all over my essay. the dbq i wrote 3 full pages, the COT and CC like 2.5; honestly, i BSed like there was no tomorrow, and I unknowingly made facts up that weren’t true
oh well

My handwriting is just plain bad…I’m kinda of infamous for it, and since it was a time constraint it was probably at it’s worst. Hopefully I’ll get a patient reader.

I want to talk about my groupings for the DBQs and my continuites, we have to wait until Saturday though! I still can’t believe it’s over…I’m still kinda of stressed.

^^^^haha memories come flooding back. last year i got a hand cramp after the DBQ and i LITERALLY could not physically write, so i switched between cursive and print between EVERY WORD, and at the end I couldn’t even read it myself. it was honestly worse than my kindergarten writing, so ill bet thats where i lost all my points

How many pages were in the booklet? Did anyone count? I just want to know since I wrote three essays that alomst took up my whole booklet.

^same. 2 years of my life culminated into 3 hours

^^ didn’t count, sorry.

Haha, my hand didn’t cramp, but I got so nervous, my hands were like sweaty. It was gross! The pen kept slipping, and my handwriting got gradually worse to the point I even couldn’t read it. I was shaking during the break too from all that nervous energy! I think I built up the AP test too high, I mean it’s just one test, but I was acting like my life depended on it.

did anyone else write up to the last second? I remember i crammed 2 more documents from the DBQ in the last 2 minutes.

I didn’t, but nearly. I wrote up to the last 2 minutes and then skimmed my essays.

mc not too bad, probably missed 10, in the worst case 14. Didn’t skip any, thats just not my style ;). DBQ was great, i spent more than an hour on it though…hoping to get at least a 6 here. Both FR were essay topics for me, but i realized that i was tight on time and decided to write one stand out essay, on the topic i knew better, C. again hoping for at least a 6 on this one. Part B i only had 10 minutes to do, and only got a thesis= first paragraph…will be lucky with a 3…most likely a 2. Still this should get me a 5.
I DID NOT INCLUDE SPECIFICS OR TEST QUESTIONS IN THIS POST.
good luck to the rest of you

looking at these responses, am i the only one who nailed the last essay and bombed the 2nd one?

I’m pretty sure I did better on the CoT than the CC. I can’t believe i forgot to talk about the caste system :/

looking at these responses, am i the only one who nailed the last essay and bombed the 2nd one?
was pretty common in my school. I did that but there is negligible difference between the two of mine.
