Could someone tell me if what I did on my essays would score points?

DBQ: are these groups good? I put reacted with attempts to compromise/cooperate, reacted with war, and reacted with faith in their religion. My additional document was from the viewpoint of a commoner to see if the whole populace felt the same way as the chiefs did, and the other a journal from the Ashanti cheif to see what he really felt about Britain’s offer.

COT: haha, I totally couldn’t remember what goods were on the silk road. My continuties were goods traded (I only could remember silk and horses), and cultural diffusion (religion, disease, ideas- I mostly talked about spread of Buddhism/Christianity and the Bubonic Plague)
My changes were volume of trade (I talked about how Mongols revived trade and so on). Also talked about the changes in empires trading (first Han/Roman, then Tang/Byzantine/West Europe, etc.)

CC: I just talked about the labor systems epecially slavery, and the mixed races (mestizos) in Latin America. Also mentioned how the Europeans felt superior. Then for a whole paragraph I went out of the time frame to the Civil War and the Brazil abololtion of slavery and resulting revolt.

ok guys so for the CC what did you guys do?
In North America I talked about how there was segregation between black and white. I also talked about social darwinism, which i said was common in both Latin America and North America. In latin america i talked about there social classes: pennisulares, creoles, mestizo, indigenous. And now in retrospect i wish i would’ve talked about the latinfundista system.

Latin America includes anywhere in the Western hemisphere where the primary language is a Romance language (so Central America, Carribean, and South America all count). But since what I mentioned about Brazil was out of the time frame I probably won’t get credit, right?

What about my other essays, do the descriptions seem like they would at least score 5’s?

chocobok: yeah, they seemed pretty good. for my groups, I did: subservient reaction, hostile resistance, and peaceful resistance. I did the EXACT same thing in regards to asking for a document from an educated commoner to see if they had similar feelings to their rulers

for the comparison, I had no recollection of anything from North America, so I wrote mostly about Latin America. I said that the natives in Latin America were exploited a lot more because the spanish arrived for raw materials and were greedy for gold/silver (encomienda/mita systems), which later caused a lot of rebellion among the natives/slaves leading to independence movements.
For North America I just made up things about how many people like the huguenots and puritans came for religious and settlement reasons so they did not exploit the natives as badly. Also there weren’t any successful native/slave independence movements in north america like there were in latin america.
Basically I said things were a lot worse in latin america than they were in north america, which probably isn’t the best argument, but oh well. But looking back now I wish I could change so much of it.

How did everyone do the groupings for the DBQ? I grouped it based in British, Italian, and German holdings.

for the DBQ: my categories were actions: insisting war, reactions: anger, hope
for the COT: continuities were commodities traded, cultural & religious exchanges; changes was biological exchanges (disease), for the reason being that, once the volume of trade increased, societies were in increasing contact with one another, allowing for rapid transmission of disease across Eurasia; i hope i did well
for the CC: i sort of blanked out and went with what i knew; i said how social hierarchies were similar but political ramification (BSed) was different; idk, is this an acceptable thesis; i talked about mestizos, zambos, and mulattoes in Latin America were similar in position to North American hierarchies (i think this is incorrect, btw) i completely left out metis, which i think couldve helped my argument; for political ramifications: something along the lines of how plantation owners in Brazil maintained most power, whereas in North America…idk i think i made something up; i just remember i entirely disregarded the EFFECTS on people :(

OK, please tell me if these are good and approximate score

DBQ: I made 3 groupings; Reacted violently (5 documents used), reacted with rejection (2 documents) and reacted by giving in to the Europeans (2 documents). Also, I did not write a conclusion…

COT: Continuities were that the interactions were high and prosperous when the respective governments were strong and stable; also that it was always a link of Asia and Europe
Changes: At one point, the road was governed by 1 government, the mongols. (iffy?)

CC: Similarities: Both had slavery with effects on society was that it led to discrimination of blacks; also, both land-owning classes were suppressed by mother countries and had no say in government (whites north and creoles south)
Differences: The north held that English speaking white land owners were the highest is society and the south held that the Spanish speaking white land owners were the highest in society

Can someone predict what my essays scores will be? I’m kind of iffy on the COT and CC and isnt sure if it’s accurate. Thanks in advance.

ok so for the dbq these were my groupings.
I had 2 actions and 1 reaction. The acted by picking up arms (going to war), acted by turning to spiritual/religious guidance, and the reacted to the cruelty of the Europeans.
Do you guys think these are good? Mine aren’t very similar to your guys’ so thats why i was wondering.

COT:
i talked about how although the ideas and technologies being spread changed, the main purpose of the road did not.

Yea for the comparative essay, I didnt know what ideology meant,LOL…SO i wrote a paragraph on slavery with North and Latin, SOcial staus(Peinsulares, creoles, Mestizos, mulattoes).(Also Encomienda system) Then i wrote about Toussiant L’Overture and Simon Bolivar about the slave rebellions…For the differences , i bS by writing North America treated the slaves better than Latin AMerica and hten I wrote about American independece,LOL…Since i rly didnt know what they were trying ask on the essay, so i wrote all hte things occuring in 1500-1830s

BTW, for DBQ, i followed the rubric, but i didnt add topics like Usamo, who put reeacted violence, rejection, and giving in to europeans… SO say for example, if you get 46 questions of MC right and 24 wrong…and u get like 8,6, and 5, is that a 4 on hte overall exam?

^ sounditout, from what I’ve heard, they don’t release specific infromation or like individual scores, I think they jsut give you over all grade.

ok I have a couple of questions: what do you think I got based on the following? is a 5 possible?
MULTIPLE CHOICE: I think I did good probably between 59 and 62 right, and the rest one, I didn’t skip.
DBQ: I would have preferd another one. I grouped and accepted for own reasons/hopeful, rebellion/fought back, and peaceful “fighting back”(not exactly how I worded but I forgot my exact words), I analyzed POV in 2 docs, an ethiopian one and then one of the german ones. I also asked for an additional document of a commoner(none refferd to them), and one that would attribute differences in responses/actions because of the colonizer(like some-Belgium were harsher tahn others(france).
COT: preety good I guess. Talked about how it connected western europe and china etc., how it spanned eurasia, I included reasons for the change. I also mentioned cultural diffusion like religions and I also mentioned spread of diseases. I wasn’t so sureabout commodities but I included some. I also talked about what occured during Mongols, and how they brought silk road to a pivotal point again. I also talked about how ocean maritime trading like Indian ocean trade system was getting more importance to it’s cheapness(compared to overland trade routes)
COMPARATIVE: freaked out at beggining, but then I rememberd some things. I want to know if it’s ok if you crossed out a sectioon or made like a few scratchesm, cause I did a bit. I had some gd points though, mentioned encomienda system, white man’s burden/social darwanism, how french and english mostly colonized north america, while in latin america, it was Portuguese and Spanish. I also mentioned how there were more sugar plantations in south, and how most slaves were shipped there in atlantic slave trade, i made a hint to the haiti slave rebellion as well. And how in general it was harsher in south(mullatoes/meztizos), and I talked how in north although social dawinism/ deeming other people that werent there skin color were inferior, but that it ws less harsh in south and how fur tade etc began with french. I only did 4 paragraphs though, but I hope it’s ok(3 pages still, just not 5 paragraphs), should that be ok?

Im preety sure about multiple choice, and essays have me iffy, I hope I get at least a 5 or so on every essay. Based on the info here can someone please answer my questions.

Hey does anyone want to discuss what they put on the multiple choice like for specific questions. Also what would my score be if I got 55 of the multiple choice questions right and answered the two first essays with a score of 5 for each. I didn’t answer the compare and contrast essay because I didn’t have time.

Raw Score (including -0.25 for each wrong answer) x 0.8571 =
DBQ Grade x 2.2222 =
Compare and Contrast Grade x 2.2222 =
Continuity/Change Over Time Grade x 2.2222 =
Add them all together without rounding till the end.

74-120 = 5
60-73 = 4
43-59 = 3
27-42 = 2
0-26 = 1
Look at this rubric. I got it from page 14…I don’t think this can actaully be the rule rubric…Cause if it is, then why did only 48 % of the students got 3s and up last year according to college board…I was playing around with this rubric, and i found if you get 25 MC right along with essay grades like 4,3, and 3…You can get a 3…I want to know if this rubric is authentic or approved from college board cause if they use this rubric, hten almost everyone should past, but that is not the case
