@sireddie64‌ nice EC’s, solid test scores (do you have SAT?), but do keep in mind EECS is the most competitive major at berkeley CoE (about 7-8% acceptance, not the 17% overall), i think you have a good shot though

Can you guys also chance me for the other UCs? I did Computer Science and Engineering for the rest. Percentage preferred. Thanks!

@Rattle You’ve got a great shot going into LNS. your stats are very nice and as long as you wrote a good personal statement you’ve got a good shot.

Since you put Engineering for other UC’s, your chances of getting in are slightly less (engineering is always impacted). Did you apply to all the UC’s? I’d say for UCLA, you’ve got a decent chance, UCSD very good chance.

I’m planning to apply to EECS. I know it’s competitive and I’m probably one of the weaker applicants, but I’d still love to know my chances x)

GPA: I’m Canadian and my school doesn’t do GPA. In grade 10 I had mostly 90’s and 80’s, and a couple of 70’s (gg). I did write in the additional comments section about how Canadian schools don’t really stress the importance of marks besides those of the senior year, and how once I realized I wanted to apply to the states (where ALL marks count), I immediately improved my grades. Last year, I had a 97% average with the lowest mark being a 93, so hopefully Berkeley will like the improvement
Also, my school doesn’t offer anything besides regular courses (no honours and stuff), which I also talked about in my additional comments.

What about other UCs, like UCSD, UCLA, UCSB? Thanks!

Merry Christmas!

@dragonnelite‌ Read many of your answers. They’re very helpful, so thank you. Quick question: Is it worth sending in a 750 in Chemistry if I’m applying to CoC (Major in chem)? I already sent in 800 on physics and 790 math II. I’m assuming that the CoC expects its applicants to score 800, so I’m also wondering if I can get away with not senging the 750 in.

@Okaybabe‌ a 750 is decent for chem even for COC. Any sat ii score is worth sending in because it’ll only boost your chances.

@janeypie‌ with stats like yours, you have a really good shot at LNS.

@dragonnelite‌ Any chance you could do mine? Also, I forgot to mention I have done Model UN for 3 years.

@SanFrancisco216‌ stats wise I think your good for LNS, but have you taken the SAT? UCs prefer sat over act so take sat just in case. What are the details of your suspension? The severity might affect your admissions but then again one of my friends got into EECS with a year long suspension haha

@dragonnelite‌ just curious, but how do you know the UCs like the SAT more? I sent my SAT and ACT, 2250 and 35, and I really hope the ACT will help me out for LNS comp sci. Thanks

@dragonnelite‌ Thank you! I am taking the SAT this month. The suspension was a 5 day drug-related suspension. The college counselor said it shouldn’t have a big effect on admissions and is willing to write a good recommendation letter for me and explain that this was a one time thing.

@ShaneBlakeEy‌ i’ve known many of my peers who’ve applied to the UC’s and standardized tests was a main concern for those who were ‘borderline’ and berkeley sent them an email asking for more test scores (sat and sat subject when they’ve only taken act) so you might as well be prepared for something like that

@dragonnelite‌ okay, thanks for the info.

Hi, I have a question about SAT Subject Test scores.
Will the College of L&S care about my Subject test scores? They seem to be only recommended for Engineering and Chemistry rather than for L&S – will this mean they won’t take my Subject test scores into account? (My subject test scores were a strong point in my application so I’m worried that it won’t help me)
