@Freetofly112 Why is that?

@marcuscolon Wait, you mean we’re 35 units away from M.A. if we were to join the program? And my major’s Linguistics.

@Zalrons I have yet to actually ask them that, but I’m pretty sure they’ll probably pick UCLA given that’s their alma mater lol

The deciding factor for choosing Berkeley (given I get in with that GPA…) to me is pure location. I’ve lived in LA for the better half of my life with more than a few high school friends who go there as well, so for the sake of experience, I’m opting to go north.

@jonjon03 Thanks for the info! I live in the bay area where rent is ridiculous, so I’m going to take advantage of being able to afford my own studio in LA. If I don’t get into UCB, that is. :-/

@castro, that’s awesome! Good luck!

Anyone who was accepted get a call from UCLA today asking about how likely you were to attend ?

@emilynicole83 Palms, Santa Monica, Culver City, Mar Vista, Century City, are all reasonably close. Culver City is tricky because it covers a large geographic area, so some parts are WAY closer to UCLA than others. Any apartment that say West LA should be getting you relatively near campus.

Just curious, are any of you guys planning on applying for honors? What is expected of honor students / requirements besides 3.5 gpa? Also for those that submitted the housing application, did you receive a email right away? Thanks

@jborj653 No, well at least not me. Never even heard of this ever occurring. My best guess is that the majors with considerable waitlist is trying to assess how many they could accept from the waitlist. However, I believe the waitlist acceptance comes after June 1st so I’m not entirely sure why this would be necessary.

@goodjobdaveman From the little information I have scoured from the internet is that the general consensus seems to be that the program isn’t worth the effort. Does not give any perks worth the time and effort acquiring those extra units. However, I did read somewhere that it might be required for certain scholarships.

Quick question: Is there such thing as too many units? I know there’s a cap to how many units can transfer and I’ve already gotten accepted, but I was planning on taking some classes for the summer as well (mostly for enrichment as I would have already finished IGETC and other pre-reqs by the end of this spring) and I’m wondering if that comes as a detriment to my acceptance status? Because that would suck balls.

I kind of just figured that they might take these classes into consideration as opposed to some random classes that fulfilled IGETC but not my major/minor.

Someone at UCLA called me today and wanted to talk about some factors that may help me decide where I’m going to SIR. Sadly I was just heading to my robotics lab and asked to reschedule the conversation. It’s really nice and exciting that they called though. :)

@jborj653 I got two missed calls from UCLA today, but they left me a voicemail congratulating me and asking any questions I had

Maybe they’re calling trying to get people to SIR before Berkley sends out notifications.

Did anyone get there congratulations packet?

W8, did everyone who got admitted here receive their calls lately?

@credulitykills @24luke16 Now I feel less special not getting a call, sorry about the speculative ramble I posted earlier.

@COCMS1 I haven’t got anything in paper from any of the schools yet.

I just received an email of ucla housing services.

I got a call but it was just to congratulate me and invite me to the transfer events…nothimg about SIR

It took about a week for UCSB to mail me an admission packet in the mail. It’s probably going to be the same for UCLA.

That’s pretty fast. I got admitted to UCSC on March 17th and I got the admission packet on Sunday. I never got any emails about my admission except from UCR, UCSC, and UCSD sent one today. Maybe they just don’t want to let me know?
