Is anyone else planning on skipping orientation? I don’t want to spend $150.

I thought about it, but I don’t want to get screwed with classes. Plus, at least in my case, I think it is my only way to get some questions answered. And you meet new people.

I agree with @CSB111

I thought about not going, but then you lose access to all those classes that they say they hold spots for transfers signing up during orientation. For me that’s imperative because all/ most of my classes are full, so it’s my only way to try to get in. Plus I can register 2-3 weeks sooner by going to orientation.

@CSB111 @2016Candles But why is it so expensive? What are we going to do there that cost $135? All we are really doing is picking classes, that can’t be so expensive.

I don’t know why the cost or why it’s all freakin day? I just know that I need the classes I need, so I’m just gonna suck it up and go.

Scroll down to session schedule, you’ll see it’s a bit more than just picking your classes.

Hmm…

Is the IGETC submission deadline July 15th or September 1st? The UCLA admission website seemed unclear about that and confusingly worded it, well in in my opinion anyway.

I ask this because I made the somewhat foolish choice to just now submit my IGETC certification to my school. They say it’ll take 8 weeks to get it processed and delivered to UCLA, meaning that UCLA will likely receive my certification sometime in August, lol

Am I screwed? If the deadline is July 15th, then that means they’ll receive it a month late. I know they’re more accomodating about receiving the IGETC certification late, but still…

Sigh, I think I’ve screwed up.

My admission contract said IGETC cert is due September 1st. Probably the same for you.

The penguin guy is right, we have until September 1st to submit the IGETC certification. I thought my CC was slow, but when compared to SMC, it moves at the speed of light. Eight weeks for an IGETC certification is way too long.

According to my admission contract IGETC is due Sept 1.

I was thinking that the Sept. 1 deadline is for those who were taking summer classes to try and satisfy IGETC and the July 15th deadline for everyone else.

The wording is just a little confusing to me, so yeah. :/

@Cayton Just harass them and say you need it done ASAP until you get it. I had to do it with my school too. But I don’t see how the expect you to get certified and take their sweet time when most people requesting it would be transferring. You probably had pending classes anyways for IGETC and they’d say “We can’t do anything until your done”.

Also, I bet some of us will run into each other at orientation and not even know it, lol.

Orientation 201, whoop!

I’ll try and harass them, but to be honest, I don’t have much experience in bothering bureaucrats to get papers pushed through because for most of my life, I’ve been pretty lucky in not having to deal with bureaucracies. lol, I barely visited my CC’s financial aid office because I never had too much trouble getting my aid money or anything like that, for example.

I’ll see what I can do, though.

And you can bet we’ll run into each other at orientation or in the fall quarter(I was almost going to say “fall semester”, lol).

I’m extremely paranoid that UCLA will not allow me to change major. I already emailed their department, and they said yes, but I get a feeling they will not allow me to do so when they see my transcripts.

Is anyone else going to 208?

The best UCLA students will be going to orientation 205.

I decided not to attend Orientation a while back because I’ve heard from former UCLA students that it simply isn’t worth the money. You can get an enrollment date by choosing to opt out if anyone’s wondering (Mine’s on August 22 I think. August something…).

I decided to drop that hideous class that made me whimper like a little beyotch in front of Royce Hall. Yes, I balled my eyes out, writhed around in the grass, and even stuffed a few blades just to further humiliate myself in front of a group of people touring the campus.

I enrolled in a different course, which seems to be a little better, but my anus is still puckering from the massive hemorrhaging I received from the other class.

I’m still scared of attending UCLA in the fall. I’d be content with just getting a 2.0, grabbing my degree, and running away as fast as I can.

If anyone saw that weird kid trying to drown himself in Shapiro fountain…That was me.

Did you seriously make a scene out in front of Royce Hall, @BurntCorpse? :(

And what class did you take that was so traumatizing. Which class have you switched into now?

@Cayton

Only within my mind. I did, however, contemplate drowning myself within the fountain.

Traumatizing class: Ancient near something

New Class: Scandinavian 50
