Sept 13-15, baby! :">

lol, is it strange that I’m looking forward to application season later on this year and admissions season next year? There’ll be lots of nervous applicants posting on this forum in need of our help, lol, just as we got assistance from previous years’ transfers.

EDIT: Also, for those of you who don’t already know about this website: dailybruin.com

It’s all things UCLA-related and is the school’s newspaper. It’s great for those of us who can’t get enough of the school. :P

It’ll be FUN! :((

no, just kidding, @Cayton. It’ll be good times guiding the way - with you as leader. We’ll be the Tontos to your Zorro.

One thing, now that it is all behind this year’s applicants, it seems less stressful than everyone thought - right? (Except for your slight sojourn this spring.) The main things are GPA and pre-requisites. That’s the mantra. Say it over and over and all is well. It’s zen-time.

Later Kemosabe…

P.S. Are you going to be around @2016Candles, @BurntCorpse, @sonic23, and everyone else?

I won’t promise that I will, but I know to never say never.

Between school, prepping for my 2nd time taking the GRE, and grad school apps, my plate will be pretty full.

For some reason, I also thought the application process was fun. I will be back for sure! haha

@Lindyk8 more than likely especially the first quarter im curious how soon we will get use to the quarter system, and everything else ucla has to offer

Im looking forward to orientation i just want to know my classes already

@sonic23, Personally I liked the quarter system (back in the civil war era when i went to Berkeley, it was the quarter system). I can’t remember about initial adjustment, but what I liked is you have more class options than the semester system, and by the time you’re sick of the class it’s over.

@lindyk8 @sonic23

I’ve read that UCLA officials have been debating for many years on-and-off whether they should switch to the semester system. Apparently, they like the quarter system too much to change it.

@Lindyk8 lol civil war era
@Lindyk8 @cayton i havr a feeling once i get used to it ill love the quarter system, i do hate how long semesters are by the 13th week i sit in class just couting the days till its over

@collegedropout1 I look forward to your insights on UCSD! I can’t wait! :x

You are always a breath of fresh air and lighten the mood! :)

@sonic23

Ah, I sometimes had that feeling in my classes too. I enjoyed almost all of my classes immensely, but sometimes, it felt like they dragged.

The quarter system will be a refreshing change of pace.

@Cayton yea even my favorite classes could get boring after a while except summer and winter of course since its only a few weeks long.

Im actually glad im taking a class at cc right now, im taking psychology of life span and its probably the most interesting and informative class ive ever taken. Summer classes are always fun since you know they wont last long

I originally wanted to major in psychology but figured once i did bad in bio psych that i wasnt cut out for it. Im thinking of taking a class for second summer session it ends late august but im scared ill be burnt out for fall

@sonic23

I took some psych classes myself for GE requirements and found out for myself that psychology is a fascinating field. I took intro psych and child psych classes in 2012/2013. One of the best decisions I’ve ever made, academically speaking.

You can always take more psych classes at UCLA that don’t focus on the biological aspects of psychology. UCLA has a great psych program and a pretty interesting array of classes in the subject.

And if I were you, I wouldn’t take more summer classes because you could get burned out, which is something you don’t want in your first quarter at UCLA; that first quarter is said to be the toughest.

Oh yeah I remember that bio-psych. Most aren’t like that. You’re probably hitting around my age right about now…

@sonic23 @Cayton

If you’re interested in psych, UCLA offers a cool minor called Applied Developmental Psychology. Since Psych is one of the most impacted majors at UCLA (that you can’t even double major in it if not originally admitted), I don’t think taking psych classes as a non-psych major is going to be easy to register for.

Also, semester system ftw

One of the Transfer Coordinator at UCLA just posted this article on the transfer Facebook page. It’s some really good info to all current and future professionals.

<a href=“Global Document Services - Xerox”>http://www.realbusiness.com/2014/07/9-professionals-share-the-career-tip-theyd-tell-their-younger-selves/

@ocnative I didn’t know they had that minor it actually sounds really interesting I will look that up
thanks!

I probably won’t minor in it, but I’d love to take a class or two in the field, @ocnative.

I don’t mind too much that UCLA is on the quarter system because it has its advantages(One of which is the reason I chose it over Berkeley), but I admit it must be convenient that you don’t have to adapt to a new academic system when starting school at Cal.

Does UCLA allow transfers to spend 3 years finishing their degree? Or is it like Berkeley, where they want you in and out in 2?

You can stay as long as you want until you hit 216 units.
