The Official Fall 2014 UCLA Transfer Decisions Thread

Never mind, the statement above isn’t related to major restrictions.

How many online courses do we have to take before fall? I already took alcohol edu part 1 and think about it. Does anyone know what the “haven” course is? I tried adding the course through the same website as alcohol edu, but it doesn’t exist.

Also, I’d like to add that I hate how UCLA is treating incoming transfer students as freshmen. We should be allowed to enroll around the same time as junior standing students. I don’t understand why the units at my community college aren’t counting when I had to bust my ass off for 3 yearsand the fact that I already suffered getting classes as it is.

In fact, I’d even suggest that they allow us priority enrollment over returning junior students because for the past 2 years, they had their fair share of courses that we didn’t. We have limited time at UCLA, and we’re most likely not going to be able to take all the classes we would like to enroll in, so why not give us a fair shot at getting the classes we need to graduate?

From what I’m seeing, most of us will be taking electives for our first semester. That is completely unacceptable. Many of us have to take 15+ courses for our major. Do they honestly expect us to cram the rest of our schedule with major courses? Are they bat ■■■■ insane?

@burntcorpse Do you feel better about UCLA?

At this rate, I’d be stuck at UCLA for 3 years. I was hoping to take 2-3 major courses and at least 1 elective per quarter, but now it looks like I’ll be taking 3-4 major courses until next spring. Thanks UCLA! I’m so glad I’m forking over 15k for housing and 17k for tuition only to have my ass hole plowed repeatedly!

I looooove being treated as an unwelcome guest. I absolutely ■■■■■■■ adore how they treat me like a cash cow, I mean, whore!

Suffice to say, I am pissed that they didn’t degree audit us before enrollment began. We incoming transfer students deserve the same enrollment dates as UCLA juniors because we are UCLA juniors too. Are we second class citizens for being transfers? Do we get a special stamp on our degree that says we’re lesser than UCLA freshman admits? Are we branded with the letter “T” once fall quarter starts? Are we relegated towards the John Wooden gym showers only to be gassed?

I’m done with UCLA and it’s ■■■■■■■■. At least UCI treated me with dignity by sending me 100+ emails before plowing me with impunity.

@CollegeDropout1‌

Hell no. I feel like I’ve been savagely pinned down and had vile objects thrust deep down my throat.

@BurntCorpse You can still try to send a late SIR to UCI, but at this point, I think you are better off at UCLA.

I’m not surprised that classes are twice as difficult to register for at UCLA. It’s an overpopulated UC campus.

I know that people aren’t exactly getting the classes they want, but are they at least getting the classes they need? You know, classes for your major and the elective?

I think the situation for transfers in general sucks, but you’ll get at least your major classes. A lot of the stuff you need to take for the major usually requires the unfinished lower division classes anyways.

I just learned that even though classes might say closed, they actually open them on orientation, but I don’t know if that helps.

Either way, I don’t think it’s UCLA exclusive, but it still sucks. SD all the CS classes were full in like May, Berkeley Econ you possibly had to take the Econ series out of order etc.

Registration is bad for us transfers this quarter, but it won’t always be like this. Starting winter qtr, we’ll have the same priority as everyone else. We’ll be ranked by number of total units completed just like every other student. We just have to get thru this, and for better or worse we’ll be the same as everyone else.

@CSB111, I can honestly say that the bit about them holding spots for new transfers is pretty much bogus. Classes in my major that were closed before orientation remained closed even though it explicitly stated online that they reserved seats for new students.

I know some other people in different majors said that when they did hold spots it would only be like 1 or 2 spots at most.

@Zalrons‌
What’s your major?

Anthropology. It’s a popular major but it isn’t impacted or anything.

Engineering majors may want to keep this link handy.

<a href=“Error Page”>Error Page;

Wish there was this for other majors.

@BurntCorpse, preach it! I think all UCs do the same though (giving transfer students later registration dates than 3rd year students).

@Zalrons I know it is bogus, because you are going to get classes anyways, but I realized the classes you usually need to declare a major are usually huge anyways so it doesn’t matter.

They definitely try to milk us out for every dime we have, but I can’t complain, USC didn’t give me a penny.

@randombookie‌ Cal saved seats for us for the first go around, but they’re kicking us out in two years. Second phase registration day seems pretty bad though (started July 17, I got 28.)

Looks like I will be stuck with some courses I wasn’t attending to take, likely electives, lol. My orientation isn’t for another month. Greaaaaat. Pre-History major, won’t even be able to take my Pre courses(likely). Any suggestions on what type of courses that would be left(No math please, did my elementary stats, and that is all I ever want to see again)?

Look at the schedule of classes and see which are far from being full. those are the classes that would be left. The classes with like 5-10 spots left? Probably shouldn’t count on them.
