One of the classes I desperately need is crammed full. Oh, and the best part? It’s only offered during the Fall quarter. Isn’t that just kick-me-in-the-crotch-slap-my-ass fantastic?

If I can’t get into that class, I won’t be able to switch to that major, which would jeopardize everything I’ve worked for up to this point. Not only would I be losing the 5k I spent on summer classes specifically for that major, but I’d also lose out on Fall quarter. Great, now Im TWO quarters behind!

Anyways, enough of my btching. All I can do now is sit in my chair, stroke my pecker, and pray the UC regents contract syphilis and other nasty ■■■.

And yes, I may have “issues,” but I think after all I’ve said, my “issues” are fully justifiable and understandable. Some of you may be willing to bend over and take it like a sybian, but I will not be subjugated into an unwilling participant in their charades. Only time will tell, but I, too, will probably be rode like a wild donkey and force fed a carrot against my will. I guess this is what it takes to be at UCLA? Alright then. Give me that raw, moist carrot please!

@tik1127 what’s your session ? I got 204
But every history major on facebook who was a transfer last year has stated they got all there classes. So I’m hoping we get lucky.

Look at electives you like there are so many!

My friend recommended a Scandinavian film class (C166C) with Lunde so I’m taking that as my elective. Lunde is supposed to be really cool and it’s in Royce on M/W. No restrictions and its got about 15 slots left in case anyone is interested

@randombookie If you’re a new transfer to UCLA, how I see the first quarter is essentially our little time as transferee to get our bearings. The finals of the classes you be taken were designed for students who have been going to ucla for awhile and have a certain understanding how rigorous the school can get. For transfer students we don’t really have an accurate way to gauge the difficulty of a certain professor (we can’t really compare them to anybody) and in most circumstance we wouldn’t know anyone else who has taken the class before hand to give us an idea/insight. I think it’s best to play it safe than be sorry even at cost of having harder quarters down the road. Well that’s my opinion and this were all based on assumption. Best if you can ask actual students who have been attending ucla and/or check bruinwalk or ratemyprofessor to get an idea how difficult the finals could be for your specific classes.

I’m very worried. My orientation is on August 15, and I’ve looked through the upper-division philosophy class listings and just about every class is full. How am I going to get the necessary two philosophy classes for fall quarter?

Did you guys who went through orientation get the necessary two or three classes for your major? I’ve heard that the enrollment caps are misleading—a class might say it has an enrollment cap of 30 or something and it’s full when you’re looking at it on the UCLA website but when you’re about to register for classes, the numbers are different and the classes appear not to be full. Is there any truth to this? Or am I totally ■■■■■■ for Fall 2014? :(

Haha we’ll see @2016Candles ! I’m so OCD and over-analyzing everything. For some reason this issue washes over me. But my daughter might be in for a rude awakening,

I’m trying not to overanalyze the registration process as I do with just about everything. I’m just worried that without the right classes, I’ll be at UCLA longer than I intend to be.

My goal is to be done by August 2015. A lofty goal, but attainable IF I get the right classes. :-SS

Well my daughter has wiggle room for about four random courses, so worse case they 're used first term. I kind of think the dreaded weeder Comm class will be open as no one wants it and they keep saying it’s open for transfers. Her plan is not to take it first term, but it is a fallback. I know at least one other is a huge lecture hall. I think those stay open longer, although the discussion groups are closed. Maybe it’s just my personality. I always finagled my way into things when I was in college, so I guess I just figure it’ll work out.

She had The Beatles class as a fun backup but it’s full and there’d be no way she’d get in as it’s not in any way related to her major. One big thing she has going for her is most of her classes are not contingent on a requisite.

That’s a mighty big goal @2016Candles. BTW, where are you living? In a nearby apt? =))

It’s not laughable!! I have all my CC units, plus 27 units of transferable upper division units. So I’m transferring a total of 127.5 qtr units. That leaves me only 52.5 more units to take. If I divide that among 3 qtrs plus next summer, it’s 3-4 courses each term. Very doable!

My sister is getting her masters at UCLA and graduating next year, do we’re trying to be finished together

@lindyk8 I wanted to take the beatles class! I’m trying not to stress about it figures I have more than enough room for electives with my major.
