The Official Fall 2014 UCLA Transfer Decisions Thread

@Burntcorpse please tell me you are kidding? About the speaking english? Omg.

@sonic23‌

Nope. It seems like I get asked that about once every blue moon. If only I was witty enough, I’d pretend to speak gibberish while bulging my eyes out just so they can run away screaming and think twice about being rude to random people.

Can’t wait for my admission to get rescinded because I’m dropping my summer class.

@RamonaFalls‌
Is the class a condition of your admission?

@2016Candles‌ nope, but it might break the part of the contract which says that I need to maintain my admissions GPA. If I’m able to drop it on Tuesday, I should be fine since there would be no notation on my transcript. But there’s a hold on my account because I haven’t turned in transcripts (for a school that I never attended. they’re requiring a blank transcript to prove this). So if the hold isn’t lifted by then, I’ll just get a fat old F.

Someone needs to write a frequently asked questions post on this forum. It seems like the same questions pop up repeatedly.

What is the latest time I can show up for orientation? I saw a post about it but I can’t find it (I think it said like 9:30 or 10:00)? I already have my ID.

@CSB111‌

Somewhere on the UCLA website, I read that it’s about 10:00 AM.

It does say 10:00AM at the latest, but the first presentation starts at about 9:30AM. At least, session 203’s did.

@ocaptnmycaptn howd it go? Did you get all the classes you wanted? Youre a history major right??

I wish I could just show up at 7 and sign up for classes. I already have my bruin card. I’ve also had a tour of the campus already. And I already have 5 different saved planes using the MyUCLA class planner. So while other people are doing all that, I’m gonna be there doing nothing.

I was in the same boat as you @RamonaFalls‌ . But there are some good things that you’d miss without going. The meeting with our department advisor was very helpful. The first assembly meeting was cool, the 2nd was admittedly overkill. It was also a good opportunity to meet people and make some connections. The day is long but it’ll be over before you know it :-)

Question. I have my orientation on the 21st of August, and i was wondering when do I pay for this? I checked on my BruinBill and I have yet to see a charge on it, it tells me, You have no billing records at this time. When the orientation sign up had started, I applied for something, can not recall if it was a waiver or a reduction. Would this be the reason I have yet to see a charge on my BruinBill? Or will I see a charge closer to my orientation date? Thanks!

@CollegeDropout1‌
You’re soooo right, we do need an FAQ.

@Tik1127‌
It will be billed to your bruin bill in either September or October depending on your orientation date. Your date us so late, I would guess you’ll be billed in October.

I went to orientation last Friday and the day was pretty long… BUT I had a blast meeting new people !In my opinion, the workshops offered were pretty similar to the workshops on Bruin Day so I skipped them and focused on looking for classes. My only complaint for that day was my NSA. He was super rude and scolded our group because there was a moment were some of us got lost. He also made the process of getting classes 100xx more stressful then it should have been. Other then that, my experience at orientation was pretty descent but for those of you who still haven’t gone I really hope you get a helpful and professional NSA!

@sonic23 The day went great! The history departmental workshop was super informative. They let you know which type and how many history courses you will need to earn your bachelors. I had no problem getting the two history classes that I wanted, but the required upper division elective course wasn’t as easy.

So few people read FAQs, it’s kind of pointless.

I showed up super late (I caught horrible traffic then couldn’t find parking). My NSA is cool and I just went to the departmental meeting. On the downside, I somehow lost my bruin card in the past week and I don’t know where it went, so there goes $20 down the drain if I don’t find it.

People not very talkative though…lol

@OCaptnMyCaptn‌ Im nervous about not getting a class to declare my major. There are like 60 history majors at this session!

@csb111 right! no one is talking to each other lol I don’t mind
Im meeting with mine in a bit i actually forgot what time I just want it to be 7 already
I asked my NSA and he said its 2 people at a time suckkks!

Good luck @sonic23 . I remember 7:00 couldn’t come fast enough!
