everyone is here trying to look over the classes trying to figure out what to take. The online schedule page is down so no one can even look at it. Im just trying to relax till 7 looking over my 5 schedules I have planned… for once I’m happy to be a little crazy lol.

@sonic23 yeah I’m frustrated because the schedule is down just in case I get shut down on my original plan. I meet with my NSA in like 20 minutes…

@2016candles I have a five hour gap twice a week lol so I ether have to go home and drive back, or find something to do for 5 hours :)

@cochoa14 97 There were two I could have taken I chose 97D because it seemed easiest
96w has more writing

Here is my thoughts on orientation I am so sorry but it is a complete waste of time for people ON THIS SITE. Because sadly we know too much already. Other students found it helpful. I met with my student advisor who was very nice! But truly no help, and our “department advisor” appointment was such a waste of time. About 60 of us met with a guy who literally restated everything on the department website. Food was good(lunch), too much walking, and the only thing that is worth it is of course enrolling in classes. That is so stressful though especially when the people ahead of you don’t even know what classes they want! 2 were allowed to register at a time.

Advice have lots of back ups use the class planner on my ucla it helps
as for brining a laptop in my case it wasn’t worth it because we enrolled 2 at a time and everyone ended up using my laptop which was annoying.

& im not even going to lie i helped my student advisor get everyone into classes, no one in my group was prepared at all they had no clue what to take. So i had to tell them what to take. Yes I spent an hour there helping them because I’m too nice!!

Im glad I got my classes I always try to look at the positive side of things but if I sound like I’m ranting its because I’m tired and my head hurts and I just got home lol

I got all my classes easily. The only hard thing was if you want to consider a different major or a minor you can’t really take the classes. I tried taking a upper division math class but my NSA asked and they wouldn’t let me. I was between a lower division math class I needed to finish or accounting, but the accounting class was a lot smaller so I thought it’d be better to take that.

The choices for electives weren’t my cup of tea though and people in my group were having trouble with it.

Overall I enjoyed the experience, but I wish we could’ve parked somewhere else. It took almost an hour to walk back, and it made me way late (I hit bad traffic a few miles before UCLA too). And I found my Bruin Card, on the floor next to my seat in the car.

@csb111 you know they had trans taking students back to the parking lots? I missed it and walked back worse walk of my life lol and than I couldn’t find my car

I had that same feeling like “I know too much”. People asked the most basic questions which really aren’t basic to anyone except those of us on here I even fielded a couple of questions that stumped our NSAs.

I did find the meeting with our dept advisor helpful.

@sonic23 You’re WAAAAYYYY nicer than me cuz as soon as I had my classes I was out!! I’m glad you got the classes you needed.

Seriously? I was getting pretty frustrated after an hour of wandering around. I got lost on the way there, then walking back I got so lost and could not figure out where I was lol. I was falling asleep driving home.

My daughter did not meet with any major advisor as the NSA said the Communication Studies dept never meets with any students ever, and never gets involved in any way. I though that was ironic since Comm Studies is PR and marketing - and, of course, communications. They don’t practice what they preach.

@CollegeDropout1 that’s my younger one. She was leaning toward that but I don’t know now. She’s in the same boat you were in. Really, if it’s not math or engineering or CS, it’s the eternal struggle.

@Csb111 yes there were about 6 of them but i missed thm and walked. Turns out they made a second trip n passed me. I followed a random guy its the only reason i didnt get lost. The whole ride home i had the radio and ac blasting so i would fall asleep

I got the worst parking for Fall. It’s so far away from the classes I have in my class planner. My first choice was one of the parking structures that flooded so that probably explains why I got this bad one.
