The Official Fall 2014 UCLA Transfer Decisions Thread

@CollegeDropout1‌

You get paid for residency after you graduate (usually 50k-60k). I wanted to go to medical school in HS, but it’s too big of a commitment and way too uncertain with changes in healthcare.

for those who took out loans, do we have to complete the “financial literacy” course? I only got an email about the entrance course, but the “financial literacy” one is on the igrad website.

@randombookie I did the one on igrad website whats the entrance course???

also when do you guys plan on buying your textbooks? I signed up for amazon student and its a lie! lol I can’t get free shipping on used cheap books

I get free shipping on used cheap books all the time from Amazon. Why do u say it’s a lie?

@2016candles Cuz i tend to exaggerate too much lol! It didn’t work for the ones I choose though
Im going to end up ordering from three different sites to get the best deals. Idk why but UCLA has a book half the price it is at everywhere else even amazon and chegg! I wonder why? maybe they have a deal with the author ?

I find that Amazon prices go down closer to the start of a semester - like in a week or 2. Also don’t get fooled by the first prices that pop up. Often those are significantly higher than if you keep scrolling down.

I like getting the books that are like $2 lol, I have had good luck that they come brand new with no highlights. Im not sure if I should wait or not. The only one I might get is at barnes n nobles because it is much cheaper than anyone else. The rest are about the same price everywhere I’ve looked

I’ve never found a $2 book at Amazon, but I’ve gotten several for around $10

@2016candles Ive gotten a few I have one in my cart right now. They are usually a novel required for the class not a textbook.

My friend did once get one from amazon for $2 and it was a brand new textbook that cost about $85 at the bookstore. I also once found a math book at a swapmeet for $1 and it was the one I needed for my math class at cc that cost like $125. That was just stupid luck tho

Once I know what books I need I usually just get them all in my cart and watch the pricing. Once you order you’ll have them in 2 days or less.

@sonic23 its ok my exemption came through today.
The last piece of the puzzle! I now have everything I need for UCLA! Thank God!

@sonic23, the entrance course is on igrad. It’s the one that gives you the basics. It’s very short. If you look on your igrad page there’s another course too. I was wondering if we had to do that one as well, bc i never got an email saying that one was required.

For those who are dorming, are you guys taking a car?

My orientation is tomorrow. Can’t wait.

Good luck! Cayton…

@lindyk8‌

I’ve used the class planner along with the fall 2014 class schedule to determine which classes I should enroll in. I think orientation will go well.

Good luck!! @Cayton‌

Let us know how it goes!

@cayton
How was the day? Did you get the classes you wanted/ needed?

@cayton you missed an interesting thread that @collegedropout1 started. It almost came to fisticuffs. $-)
