You don’t mean me do you O:-)

I plead the fifth @2016Candles :-t

@lindyk8

That must be the one about in-state tuition. I’ll go read it now.

@2016Candles

The orientation went very well, despite being 12 hours long. I got the classes I needed and wanted(Although I didn’t expect to get the schedule that I did. I am still very pleased with it, though). I enrolled in phil 100A(Ancient Greek philosophy, basically), hist 113A(History of Ancient Greece), and phil 153A(Normative Ethics). I didn’t expect to encounter so little trouble in getting the classes I needed, even though many classes I wanted were restricted(Non-philosophy courses that were in impacted majors, such as history or political science and were VERY popular/important to those majors). I suppose ancient Greek history wasn’t an in-demand class, so we enrolled into it with no problem.

Needless to say, I’m going to learn a lot about Ancient Greece and its culture. lol

I also made a few friends in my group, some of whom I can tell I’ll be very good friends with while at UCLA. All of them are very smart and great to talk to. We’ll also have a couple of classes together because hist113A was interesting to all of us and phil100A is required for all philosophy majors and is only offered in the Fall with just one professor teaching it.

Overall, it was a great and informative experience. The food was great, too. I can see why UCLA is #2 in the country in terms of food quality.

I thought it was #1 in food. Poo.

@lindyk8

Different ranking systems give UCLA different rankings, but to my knowledge, UCLA is top 3 or top 5 in each one, with the exception of College Prowler, which ranked UCLA #6 recently. They used to rank it #2.

Bottom line is that UCLA food is pretty great, no matter what your taste is.

Is that prowler or niche?

Ok I guess I answered that as it went to asterisks, haha

@lindyk8 Yeah, some less than polite things were said. It wasn’t all my fault though!

It was fun from my vantage point.

@collegedropout1
Please let’s not restart another “debate” on this thread. I think things got a little intense, but I don’t think anyone got out of line… IMO. If you thought I crossed a line I apologize because it’s never my intent. I like you and think you’re a good guy.

I don’t think anyone crossed a line. Although from a layman’s vantage point I was rooting for candles. =))

@2016Candles Yeah, I don’t want open old wounds. Anyway, I think I could have been more diplomatic, so I too apologize. I think you’re cool, and I certainly don’t won’t to become an enemy! I don’t need anymore, I already made one on here! Let’s just forget about this thing.

@lindyk8 Hahahah, entertaining? Well, I guess it was an interesting post! I’m full of those, aren’t I?

You ARE full of interesting posts @CollegeDropout1 ! It would be a cold sad boring day without your addition to CC. :-j

@CollegeDropout1, who you beefin with?!

@Zalrons Some bitter, cranky, old man!

You can see here. It is the last couple of posts.

HAHAHAHA, I think I found @BurntCorpse on reddit!

<a href=“Reddit - Dive into anything”>http://www.reddit.com/r/ucla/comments/276rbz/ancient_near_east_egyptology_major/

I got my orientation on Thursday, just wondering, what should I expect? Do I need to take anything besides some transcripts? And why in the world is it so long? I just really want to register for my classes and vamoose. BTW, it states I will get my BruinCard, I haven’t submitted a picture, so I am assuming I will get it there, right?

Well, @CollegeDropout1 linking to the UCLA subreddit encouraged me to explore it further, and I came across this: <a href=“Reddit - Dive into anything”>http://www.reddit.com/r/ucla/comments/2ddbnd/recent_ucla_grads_hows_the_job_hunt_going/

replace the asterisks with “r e d d i t . c o m”

Many Bruins have found good jobs right after graduation. Even the ones who haven’t say that the UCLA brand name has gotten them lots of interviews.

Oh, and someone with a political science degree said in that thread that they got a good paying job in geology. Talk about working in a job that’s unrelated to your field of study. :P

@Cayton I also read that thread! Are you saying I made the wrong choice? hahaha

@tik1127 you don’t even need your transcripts. Your student advisor will give you a print out of your first degree audit. Just have a couple schedules planned out. & be prepared to walk a lot
