The Official Fall 2014 UCLA Transfer Decisions Thread

@randombookie‌

If you had to, you wouldn’t be volunteering, would you? ;)

@Cayton, I’m moving in Friday morning but leaving for LA in 5 hours. 7 hour drive ahead! And yes it was approved! You nervous at all?

@Zalrons‌

Dang, 7 hours? That’ll be fun. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m kind of nervous, yeah. I wonder what my roommates are like and how this first year at UCLA will turn out. I look forward to taking long naps on the grass that UCLA students love to do when I get there, lol

You’re lucky you have a double in Gardenia. Is it a hall or a plaza? Either way, you’re doing better than like 60% of all UCLA students. :smiley:

@Cayton, LOL oops. Lemme clarify, I was wondering if we have to sign up or just show up to volunteer day. I actually want to go

@randombookie‌

Yes, you must sign the waiver to participate.

@Cayton, Me too! Gardenia is a deluxe hall. I think that means it has slightly nicer community bathrooms compared to the normal halls. I feel incredibly lucky, I don’t know why someone would want out of a double in Gardenia.

@Zalrons‌

Those community bathrooms…a great way of meeting new people, but one wonders how clean they are. Also, deluxe halls come with unlimited AC. Use that ■■■■ when there’s a heat wave in the middle of October and laugh at all of the poor students who got placed in normal, classic residence halls. :smiley:

Are you going to volunteer on volunteer day? I’m curious because I don’t want to be the only one here who isn’t going. :P

Do you guys think it would be that bad to enroll in a class that has a final on the same day as another class’?

This has been bothering me, but do you go to a discussion/ta meeting if it’s prior to the first day of lecture? One professor on ccle said not to go, but another has nothing posted.

@randombookie‌
I think it can be ok with proper planning. I have 2 finals on the same day. It’s not recommended, but I didn’t want to screw up my whole schedule for 10 weeks just because of finals’ schedule. It will definitely take some mental stamina and some caffeine, but I think it’ll be ok. Just make sure you’re prepared.

My other 2 classes don’t have final exams, only papers, so I figured it averaged out for me.

I moved my stuff in, back at home now until the weekend. The triple is not bad…there was nobody moved into the whole hall except one of my roomates.

@jonjon03 I’ve e-mailed my two TAs for two classes regarding that. I only have two discussions next Thursday so I want to know if I should show up. I’ll report back with their answers but you should probably do the same. The TAs that handle the discussion sections are more likely to know about that than the instructor.

Football game on tonight!! :slight_smile: :-bd

So i just spent about an hour looking at stuff from ONE of my classes webpage. Professor made a website for this class and I must say it is intimidating. It had article after article and links and just overwhelmed me. IDK with I’m supposed to be expected to know by the time I walk into class

@sonic23

You have a week to read them. Get to it, lol

He guys, really dumb question. I always believed courses would begin Oct 2nd. I am looking at the schedule, it states Quarter begins Sept 29th but courses instruction begins Oct 2nd… So, is class starts this Monday or Th?

@Tik1127‌ classes start Oct 2. Next week is Week 0, so mon - Wed is just new school year events and fun stuff, no classes.

So can anyone who moved in confirm that you get 4 free meal swipes for the day? My siblings want to come to move-in with me and also want to try the food.

@k4201505, I can confirm. If you want to check how many swipes are on your bruincard go to google and type in “ucla on wiffle.”

@k4201505 You get one swipe and then can swipe in your family for free at the same time…
