The Official Fall 2014 UCLA Transfer Decisions Thread

@onehandedred‌ I am thinking maybe the letter is just a prelude…

True, re: Riverside, not 2D, a pop-up, but better than anything else so far.

Merced’s at least had some color brochures but it came in one of those flimsy generic navy blue paper folders that cost 25 cents at Office Depot. No branding on it. :smiley:

Any admitted applicants not receive a provisional award letter? I’m wondering how they do the regents thing… Do they just update it when the selection is finished?

UCLA gives acceptance packets in the mail?

I didn’t apply financial aid…Anyone know if I still have chance to apply? :(

My daughter did not receive any awards. The only thing was, she got a regents scholarship from Merced via a letter that was totally unexpected. Nothing was asked for in advance. I’m hoping something like that will happen with UCLA, but unlikely.

Any English majors out there? Thoughts on the program at UCLA?

@tinydancer13‌

You might want to check out general catalog.

Congrats to those who were accepted, I self-loathed for a good two days, my weekend was ruined. I feel much better about it now. Waiting on Berkeley (got both my fingers crossed).

@vvvccc123

I would like to know the answer to this question as well. I doubt that I would qualify, but would like to try before applying for a student loan.

@tinydancer13 It’s one of the best English departments in the nation. Top 20 on all lists, top 10 on some.

@Tik1127 I do hope we can apply, I saw price of an apartment in ucla is so much high…

In total, I have 5 W’s. I have made up 4/5 of them (3 of them being A’s and 1 a B). I am taking the last class I got a W in right now. I didn’t put in my application that I had 3 other W’s, because I could not find the classes on the application. I got into UCLA, but I am just wondering if I send in my transcripts, if my decision will be taken away.

Major: Anthropology
GPA: 3.55

Made up 4/5 of the W’s, and am completing the last one right now! Thank you!

@COCMS1, to be very honest they’re not going to like the fact that you didn’t include your Ws when you applied… Even when the class don’t appear on their list, there was an option to make the class by putting its name, course number, etc… I wish you luck but you should definitely let them know ASAP!!

@COCMS1‌

You do know that there’s a section where you can add any classes that don’t show up? I had to manually add 25% of my courses, especially the non transferable courses (Yes, you have to tell them about this even though they don’t count).

I think your admission will be revoked for lying. Sure, it wasn’t intentional, but think about it. You had the chance to add it in your application, but you chose not to.

@COCMS1‌
I’d notify them first thing tomorrow. There’s a tab on the left hand side of your admissions page where you can notify them of any schedule changes. You better have a convincing reason as well. I don’t think, “I didn’t know…” would fly too well with them.

I’m not sure they will care about the fact that you didn’t put them on @COCMS1‌. You made them all up, and did well. My daughter did not put her non-transferable classes in manually (as they did not show in the dropdown) and she never thought she had to. However, they were included in the unofficial transcript she attached. Aren’t the W’s on the unofficial transcript? Re: the one you are making up now, that’ll be OK. Just go look at the unofficial transcript that was attached. The W’s have to be on it.

@lindyk8‌

What unofficial transcript are you talking about? Your daughter attached it to her application, somehow? I’ve never heard of that.

Decision: Accepted

UC GPA: 4.0
Major Pre-reqs Completed (Y/N): Y
Intended Major: Electrical Engineering
TAG?: N
IGETC?: Y

Extracurriculars (clubs, leadership, volunteer, work): Not too much.
Applied for Financial Aid?: Y
Gender: M
Estimated Family Contribution(EFC)/Income Bracket: 0$
Attending Transfer Admit Day? (if admitted): Maybe

Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected (strengths/weaknesses): Work ethic, work ethic, and work ethic.

@music1990, yeah when she submitted she attached an unofficial transcript somewhere. The reason I remember is because of two things: (1) she got a notice in Feb that the required english she took in spring 2013 and which she noted on the app was not listed in the unofficial transcript and she had five days to resubmit unofficial transcript. She had a copy on her computer and sure enough it was not included. The admission office of her school said that sometimes the person making the PDF forgets to check all the boxes (weird), so she had to resubmit. That transcript had the three non-transferable courses she had not added manually. And, (2) the only reason she got into UCSB was there was an earlier math course (non-transferable) on her unofficial transcript. She is taking her required math IP this semester and that’s an auto-decline at UCSB unless there is an earlier math. Emilie had not put it in manually, and no one cared. They just told her as long as it was on unofficial transcript it was good. I cant imagine you didn’t attach a transcript. Maybe I’m remembering wrong and they got it on their own, but I’m pretty sure my daughter attached it.

@lindyk8‌

That’s strange. I didn’t apply UCSB so I don’t know, but in general the UCs only look at your transcript once you have been admitted. I don’t know how your daughter even would have done that, since the application typically has no place to upload attachments. So I am mystified by this! But obviously it worked out for her lol.
