The Official Fall 2014 UCLA Transfer Decisions Thread

@music1990‌ I asked my daughter and I think I got one part wrong. She thinks the first unofficial transcript was sent to Santa Clara university. But - the UCs must be looking at something because in Feb she got a general UC notice that her second course English she listed for spring 2013 was not shown as taken in the transcript, so she had to resubmit. So they were looking at something to see that discrepancy. And then her intermediate algebra was not put in manually and UCSB said as long as they saw it in the transcript they had, it was fine. And it was. So… they have to be looking at something. They def call it an unofficial transcript - so maybe they get one directly from the CC as prelim?

ACCEPTED! :-0

@lindyk8‌

Oh alright. I think some students are asked to submit a transcript for whatever reason, so perhaps that was it. So is your daughter going to UCLA for sure? Did she apply to Cal as well?

@music1990 you got me intrigued so I did a search. I’m not seeing where an unofficial transcript is part of app process. Odd. Well they must have just asked for one arbitrarily and then saw English discrepancy and non-transferable math.

She did get into all the UCs she applied to, still awaiting Berkeley, but already SIR’d to UCLA. :smiley:

are there any Facebook groups for accepted transfer students?

Been reading the college confidential for so long and i had to post this coz im just devastated…

REJECTED
Major: Communications
Gpa: 3.95 … Will be 3.97 after this semester
TAP certified
Major requirements : doing math this semester ( maybe this is the reason) others completed
Igetc completed
EC: president of music association/ conductor of orchestra/ honors public relations team/ principal violinist/ honors society
international student (or this is the reason)
Essay: would rate it… 8.5/10

I dont know what to think… Cant breathe… This would be a totally differently ending if i had change my major to sociology!!! I have completed the requirements of it and in someways its similar to communications…

Should i appeal…i expected myself to get in , based on stats last year:( but i know ppl got rejected with a 4.0… So i hv nth to say /_</p>

totally different*

App is still pending. This is pretty cray, oh well at least UCB is coming out soon.

@RCLA325‌ there is a FB page. It’s called something simple like UCLA transfer page. No years are on it. My daughter joined it. She found it on one of those pages she linked to on her portal. The link is on the UCLA transfer pages somewhere.

@geegeeggt‌ I’m shocked you didn’t get in. Did you complete any other math class with a grade, even if it was non-transferable, like a rudimentary class? My daughter would have been declined from UCSB had she not had rudimentary algebra, as her math was IP and UCSB wants to see at least one math completed, no matter how basic the course is. I was under the impression UCSB was the only school with this demand. You should give them a call.

UPDATE: I just reread: do you mean you’re taking the statistics class? Because if so, my daughter got into comm and she has statistics IP. I’m sure it’s the international part. Some of the courses maybe didn’t transfer, or they reached their cap.

@geegeeggt‌ for what it’s worth, there are several TAG folks who got declined from UCSB due to math IP, appealed, arguing they got an A in statistics - and they got in. Call and find out the reason.

Accepted

Major: Sociology (plan to double major with Asian American Studies)
GPA: 4.0
Major GPA: 4.0
Prereqs: completed
IGETC: Yes
TAP: No
Essays: 8/10 or so…
Extracurrics: Pretty good I guess…I co-author a blog on helping other people transfer

Applied: UCLA, UCB, UCI, UCSD
Accepted: UCLA, UCI, UCSD (waiting on Berkeley of course)

Invited and applied to UCLA Regents–have yet to hear from them!

Other comments: I am a first year in-state student at community college that graduated high school with about 29 units from AP and 3 from a CC course I took during the summer as a high school student. Had to take this route because I was rejected from 16 schools (including 4 UCs) when I applied for freshman admission last year. I was a little concerned that having a GPA comprised of literally 6 classes wouldn’t be substantial enough for UC admission, but it worked for me and three of my friends who are doing the same thing.

@12bank‌ I’m also still waiting!

Are you that oneyeartransfer tumblr guy? Should change your layout. It’s contrasting in my face and it’s painful.

Congrats arthur or mark or something

@onehandedred‌ : yes I am! I’m Arthur.

By the way, how would you like the layout to change? The color of the sidebar links, the main text, or something else?

@masterfail It’s the yellow bit that hurts my eyes. I get that you want to use the blue and gold theme for UC’s but I think if you incorporate lighter shades of blue to ease in the bright yellow parts, it would be less distracting and easier to read. I was gonna say you should make some parts white, but I never even realized that the text is already white. I don’t know how if you use hex color codes since I don’t even know how web design woks, but this is a pretty good combination that uses blue and gold while keeping the navy bluet: #336699, #FFCC66, #FFFFFF, #003366. I can see why you wouldn’t use the UC brand blue though. Looks like Ukraine’s flag and that’s like the ultimate tumblr bait right now :))

I went to your blog again and apparently the other guy’s name is not Mark. It’s jimmy.

Edit: I think your logo is the ukraine flag

I do web design. White text not good on eyes. I did not see the page but suggestion: make the text blue and sides prob blue, but maybe gold/yellow, hover links gold. Backgrd white. Off the top of my head w/o seeing it, just make the accessories or banner gold. Keep it clean, simple and readable. @masterfail‌

@onehandedred‌ @lindyk8‌ : Thanks for the tips, we’ll change it in the next few days. I was thinking of white background, blue / dark gold text myself. And yes, the avatar is a flipped Ukrainian flag–of course, we created this blog before Ukraine landed on international news!

can anyone look at BruinView? It’s UCLA’s job search website. I get an error. Maybe I have to SIR to be able to access it, not sure.

So I called ucla about rejection. They confirmed they calculated my gpa from the school shooting. The lady spoke to her supervisor, I’m now on the waitlist. She told me to draft an appeal.
