@cayton I set up my email and see that its going through gmail, do you know if there is anyway to access the email which is strictly @ucla.edu not @g.ucla.edu ?

@cwalkercfli21

Great! I knew you’d get in!

@RCLA325

I was curious about that myself, but I think we’re stuck with the “g.ucla.edu” address.

@RCLA325 how do you set up your ucla mail?

I did a little test and you get emails to the same inbox if you send the email to @g.ucla.edu or @ucla.edu.

@rcla325 I tried sending an email to the @ucla.edu one and it went to the gmail account too. I guess they both work under gmail.

@ramonafalls @uclammg I actually notice that too which is good, but I ultimately was trying to find a way to compose a new email from the *****@ucla.edu address

@freetofly112 I logged into myUCLA and I believe it was under the “My Features” tab at the top, than “webmail” it should prompt you. its basically the UCLA id you set up originally for MyUCLA @g.ucla.edu . I wish I knew that my login would be my email address, but there was a way to also create an alias address which is basically another @ucla.edu address connected to your original UCLA id. looks like I have way too much time on my hands.

@RCLA325 Have you already sent an SIR?

@freetofly112 ya, I submitted my SIR earlier today.

@RCLA325

If you have a personal gmail account, you can use it to be able to send emails from a @ucla.edu address and not @g.ucla.edu address. Just send a confirmation email to the @ucla.edu address asking for permission to send emails from that address. The email will be received by the @g.ucla.edu address. You should now be able to have that spiffy @ucla.edu address to send emails from when using your personal gmail account.

Just submitted my SIR! So when do we get the opportunity to talk to our new counselors and work out our schedules?

@aaryan520 Awesome! #UCLAbound

And according to information from myUCLA, new student orientations begin after June 5th, 2014.

@Aaryan520

I think all of that happens during orientations that will be held in July-August. UCLA will let you know what you need to do by when.

Is it true your GPA resets at UCLA (or any other UC’s for that matter)? I’m stressed out about my stats class guys, though I think I can pull out a low A. I heard grad schools still look at your GPA at CC though so it’s not like I intend to just completely give up if the GPA reset is true.

From what I’ve heard, your GPA will be reset once you attend a UC. Also, your CC gpa and UC gpa will be averaged when applying to some grad schools.

Edit: Not all grad schools will average your cc and uc gpa. I meant to say “some.” There’s thousands of graduate schools with different requirements. Check out the grad school section on this site for more answers.

Holy crap that’s even better. I was thinking like oh man I didn’t need to try THIS hard at CC, but if that’s true I am so glad I put in the effort

@onehandedred

Also if you didn’t try THIS hard you may not have gotten into UCLA or whatever schools you got into

@music1990 nah I would’ve maintained at least a 3.9 and remained competitive. History courses are very difficult to not get an A in :)) . Sorry, I’m really just thinking to myself through these posts; just thinking I would’ve loved to have taken a B at that poli sci class cause that professor was just bruuuutal.

Then again, regents too that was purely cause of my gpa…

No more ■■■■ posts from me after this one. Thanks for the info guys.

@onehandedred

lol well being competitive doesn’t mean you for sure would have gotten in. A .1 difference could be the difference between being admitted and rejected, so I wouldn’t regret trying really hard.

I am wondering if it is possible for me to switch from Econ to Biz Econ major? I already got accepted with Econ major btw
