The Official M10 2019 Freakout Thread

Wait was it the one about waiting?

@ilovechoateeeee well many upload their vids for hkiss over yt, but as far as i know, many are unlisted

I didn’t get any email from loomis other than the app confirmation

My favorite Hotchkiss application video of all time is the one with the guy doing yo-yo tricks in his barn. No idea whether he was admitted, though. Some of the videos are quite awful. Being an admissions officer is tougher than it looks

@CavsFan2003 It was just an email telling us that they know the wait is hard and nerve wrecking. Telling us that results would be available on 3/9 etc…it was funny because they made light of us all panicking!

@CavsFan2003 YES!!! that was the email! Sorry for the delayed response! I drove myself down a rabbit hole of worry today…smh

@harlemgirl121 thanks for sharing! I didn’t apply there, but good luck to all who did!

My parents didn’t get any emails from loomis. Should I panic for potentially already being eliminated??

@sparkatzz Panicing wouldn’t solve anything so I recommend that you calm down and assume nothing.

@sparkatzz don’t worry about it, it’s probably nothing! maybe it got sent to your parent’s spam filter by mistake?

@sparkatzz . Hell no dont panic cuz I KNOW my son didnt get in and they sent it to me. Check your folks’ spam like @bookmerd said and breathe positivity into the universe.

Thanks for all the people that replied! I’m an int’l student so hopefully they just assumed our parents won’t read this…

Two weeks from today life will change! Trying to find projects to occupy my time until then. Schools are sending athletic videos to my kid but i know its standard. Wish theyd stop. Its only adding to anxiety. Like dangling a favorite toy or something before us. I do know from an AO that by today the accepted applicants (for the most part) have had their apps fwded to the FA division. So between now and M9 FA is being calculated and decisions confirmed . (Obviously)

That’s so stressful to think about - our fates may have been decided!!

Hi there, just wondering if you had any update. We are also applying for K and have received only waitlists at Westchester schools.

@sparkatzz Don’t panic…we got the message and the only thing we did was send the profile as part of Gateway.

ok i can’t be the only one getting super anxious when stalking schools’ instagrams - but at the same time i can’t stop myself because it also makes me so happy aGh

@happydance22 Hi there, just wondering if you had any update. We are also applying for K and have received only waitlists at Westchester schools.

Sorry I’ve been missing from this thread for a bit but thought I would come back to share some helpful info and see how you are all doing. Hang in there!! So as some of you remember, we were waitlisted at Hackley (kindergarten). We found out today that we were also waitlisted at Greenwich Country Day and Rye Country Day. Here’s the part I thought many of you would be interested in… After we were waitlisted at Hackley, I actually got a phone call from the director of Admissions there a few days later. He called me to tell me how much they loved our daughter and our family and that it came down to financial aid. He said that 50% of their applicants needed aid this year. He said they could only offer aid to 3 kindergarten applicants. He said they simply don’t have it in the budget to give our daughter a spot given that we need as much as we do in aid. He said a lot of nice things… these schools have to save the bulk of their aid budget for middle and high school students, which they have said to us before, so I get it. I definitely feel better after speaking with him. Just thought I’d share. Thanks for the support throughout all of this!

Oh and for those interested in really breaking down the chances… they had over 400 applicants for 32 spots. Half required FA. They were only able to admit 3 FA applicants. That means only 3 out of over 200 FA applicants were lucky enough to get admitted with aid. I’m sad we weren’t chosen but the numbers make me feel a little better and the personal call was incredibly thoughtful and kind.
