The Official M10 2019 Freakout Thread

Wow, your case sounds just like me!! I’m not optimistic about my chances, though one can hope. I’m a double legacy at Andover, and I’m praying that’ll give me enough of a boost. Scared that they’ll think I’m just another high stats kid though.

I’m freaking OUT. My future is hanging in the balance here. Honestly until M9 i’m kind of useless. All I’m good for at the moment is wringing my hands and listening to loud music to take my mind off things.

This forum has slowed down a bit. I remember how lively things were before the 15th.

@YoungThriver i guess everyone is just going into this state of stress about decisions (i know i am) lol

@bookmerd Can you make me understand why this is so stressful?

I really hate not knowing things and suspense, I’m the kind of person to google the end of a horror movie because I can’t take it. But I can’t google my future, and honestly, I’m kind of glad.

However, I really just want to know, but in another way, this is kind of like a grace period. We’re not happy or sad about our decisions yet. And this is the daily struggle in my mind lol!

One half of my brain: LETS JUST FIND OUT COME ON TWO MORE WEEKS

Other half: But let’s cherish life! We still have two weeks where we don’t have to worry about what we are going to do next year!

@misslilbookworm I find the suspense of it all thrilling.

Does anyone have any funny interview stories?

At one of my interviews, the AO looked so much like my uncle that it was all that I could think about. Later in the car, my dad asked me, “So he look like your uncle to you because that’s what I kept thinking!” LOL

one AO went on talking about how annoying SAO is that they can’t click on any links and he thinks that character snapshot is a scam lol.

@happydance22 wow! That is insane. I did not realize the odds were this unfavorable. We are waitlisted at the same schools. Have you been able to get a sense of where you are on the waitlists? I have asked and only received feedback that the waitlist is unranked. We moved from Manhattan where we thought the private school admissions process was brutal but this unreal (I guess because there are fewer coveted options). What will you do if the waitlists don’t move?— We are now touring our public. Thanks so much for this information and good luck!

@cincy25 We like Resurrection in Rye. It’s K-8th. Lots of kids with older siblings at Sacred Heart, Brunswick, Rye Country Day, etc. If Catholic school isn’t an option for you then the choices are definitely limited for private schools. Resurrection is a step above the public schools but not as impressive as the other schools we applied to. I don’t know where you are but the public schools in most of Westchester and Greenwich are excellent.

Had speech sectionals today. Placed 7th. Top 6 go to state. :frowning:

@CavsFan2003 aw that’s so sad, i’m sure you’ll continue to improve, and good luck on trying to make it to states!

@muchanxieotea Thank you! I can’t be too disappointed, cause it was my second meet, but :((

@CavsFan2003 that’s really rough, but congrats for doing so well on your second comp!

Congrats @CavsFan2003!

@YoungThriver I guess it’s because most people are worried about results that they spend a lot of time thinking about it, leading them to post here less. Just guesses here, don’t hold me to it lol

Oh I have a funny one: When I was in the waiting room at NMH an AO came out to greet another applicant and asked him “So I hope you had a good tour! What did you think of the school/campus?”. Completely nonchalantly this guy says “Honestly, it wasn’t up to my standards” with a sort of frown on his face. I was giggling so hard!

Jumping back in to update -

D2 was accepted to three schools - 1 hill school and 2 Greenwich schools. She is deciding this weekend following her revisits.

D3 applied to schools for pre-K and was accepted to the same 2 Greenwich schools D2 was admitted to.

We are grateful and humbled and really kind of incredulous. Best of luck to all of you.
