As a recent (ad successful) Choate applicant, DS wrote about what he did at his middle school, how he was an involved student and took advantage of what they had to offer, etc. For the second, DS talked about what drew him to apply to Choate, what he liked about the school, and how he would participate in school life, etc. That seemed to work for him. It’s not. States in the northeast, NJ, California and mabe Texas ad Florida.
What about Oregon and Idaho?
The geographic diversity bump is far, far less than residents of those underrepresented states hope.

Really? I interviewed on monday and I haven’t finished yet. It was online though.
They probably have over 1k applications… not every admissions person remembers every single person, and not every admissions committee member was in your interview. I’m sure it’s just to keep applicants straight. I would not read anything into it.

Hi!!! I have a question, when Deerfield says “All application documents received in January are considered timely. January 15th is a soft deadline” that includes essays?
If it’s under your control, I would recommend getting it in by 1/15.

I don’t think so. Most of the admissions offices have told that they expect the parent and student essays to be submitted by 15th. Issues not under your control ie LORs, transcripts etc can come in by end of Jan

The AOs at a couple of the schools my son applies to also mentioned “January 15th” as the soft deadline and they are willing to wait for the documents, but they mean recommendation letters, test score, previous grades, stuff like that. So yeah, I strongly recommend you to definitely submit the essay by January 15th.

Good luck to all. Happy to answer questions about Lville. Small advice: You all have been busy and stressed during the application process. Relax as what will be will be. Encourage kids to enjoy their time in their current school now that this weight and deadline is off their plates. Parents: enjoy your time with your children, time moves slowly till it doesn’t … they will be out of the house in no time. May all their dreams come true.
