That’s not how it works. Colleges accept applicants, not boarding schools.
Now, if you mean in the broad, abstract “Exeter will prepare you with incredible rigor, hard work, amazing experiences, the resources to carve an amazing path and distinguish yourself from your peers, etcetcetc” then…ok?
But if you mean “I read the matriculation stats and wow soooo many kids from Exeter get into Ivy+/T20” then…no.
Does anyone have any info on deferring acceptances? I applied to a study abroad program and got in. The deadline for accepting the scholarship was March 7th so I commuted already. I still want to attend boarding school the following year however.
Hi- Is she going to be a day student or boarder? Coming in for 9th? Does she play sports? I think the biggest piece of advice is to make sure she’s participating in a sport or co-curricular right away at the start of the year. My kids made their core group of friends through their sport/co-curricular and that really helped set the year off in a positive direction right from the start. Also, I would highly recommend the Tabor Boy orientation week if you can swing it; lots of great bonding and a super unique experience (especially given her love of Marine Biology). And, take advantage of the upcoming outreach (from current parents and students) in terms of being able to ask questions, attend any summer events before the start of the year if you can and PLEASE feel free to reach out to me here over DM. I can give you my email to answer any additional questions! We absolutely love Tabor for so many reasons!
Yes, but to be fair it was one of my son’s last choice schools. In the end he had mostly applied because of how interested the baseball coach was and how much we liked the HOS. It was probably not the best fit school.
Yes! What my daughter experienced, was that if you are being recruited and need financial aid- and I don’t know if that is your situation, sometimes there is a disconnect in priorities between how much a coach could want you and where the Financial Aid office may be directed to prioritize their funds in a certain year. Every school is different when it comes to what sports they value and how much power coaches have with Admissions (and financial aid). From our experience, and in the context of needing full financial aid (which coaches she was speaking to were not necessarily aware of) there are some coach’ s egos out there making promises their schools cannot keep up with. If I remember correctly, some schools were more direct in saying the wait list was a “financial aid” waitlist.
Thank you, that’s helpful. Yes it was a FA waitlist. The coach is still in contact with us and said he is going to work on it. But he knew exactly how much we were able to pay, I guess it’s probably time to move on.
I think so, Lol! The letter basically said…. You’ve been currently placed on the waitlist for FA. Until more funds become available we are not able to offer you a spot for next year.
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts. We are still in the giddy stage, especially my daughter. We really appreciate the advice and will definitely look to sign her up for the Tabor Boy orientation. We do have plans through mid August. So we want to get one of the weeks toward the end of August. Do you know the process for registering?
Also, our daughter is going to be boarding, which freaks us out, We want what is best for her, so we will survive, probably She is entering ninth grade, so it is nice that everyone is coming into it together. Thank you again.
Once you formally accept, you will be sent links to orientation and other helpful information! Best of luck and again feel free to reach out if you have any questions along the way! Congratulations!
i am about to be a new freshman at Lawrenceville and i have some question about study hall. if we are done studying or with work and we have time remaining what could we do with that time?
