Thank you.
We had applied to 3 GLADCHEMMS are were fortunate to receive acceptances to each. 2 sent emails that telegraphed the news right in the subject line in the email. The 3rd was a note to check the portal. All 3 arrived fairly early in the morning on M10.
My kids both applied to a mix of day and boarding schools using Ravenna (not the SAO). Ravenna tells you exact time decisions would be released in the portal (is my memory). Boarding were both released in morning like 8-9am and the day schools all after school (3 or 4pm).
Most of them also sent separate emails slightly before (or just after) that time with the result. One of the boarding schools sent an email at 5:45am! (Just looked).
do you/ does anyone know if all schools send something if admitted? (I guess in our case wondering about PEA PE Hotchkiss, Groton, SPS, Deerfield Choate, but for the sake of everyone else, whatever info anyone has is welcome)
thank you …it seems so far that some schools tell us exactly when to look at portal and others say just to look at portal…maybe as we get closer to M10 there will be more clear instruction from respective schools. i sure hope so, otherwise we will be refreshing those portals all day and going a little sideways from it, lol!
When I look back at 3 years ago, I see emails from many schools around 3/1-3/5 advising of how decisions will be released and more specifically when. And most but not all also sent an email on 3/10 with either the decision or announcing that the decision was available on the portal.
This is our first time through the process, too, and my child is applying to a mix of day and boarding schools (as a day student). Hopefully others more in the know will respond, but from reading through these threads last year it seemed like the boarding schools pretty uniformly sent swag to kids they admitted.
We applied to 13 schools and all communicated clearly how to find out if we were accepted. We were able to check everything via email or portals and while things did come out at different times (and some packages before notification). I would not worry they will let you know how to find out your fate. Some also verify communication information prior. You can always reach out to the schools a few days prior if you are not sure how they are releasing info or if you are having trouble getting into their individual portal. No need to worry about this bit you have till M10 and some how as the date gets closer communication picks up again. For now it will be crickets bc the schools are reading about your amazing kids. Good Luck!
Hey! I received an email from school (that I didn’t finnish my application) saying that I could still send the rest of the materials until the end of the month. She said that there was no penalty, but is that true?
If you received an email from the school, why would you think they’d be lying?!?
Does anyone know if some of the non-GLADCHEMMS BS send packages? I am thinking Tabor and Concord Academy? How about Boston area DS like Nobles, BB&N, BUA, Commonwealth?
When I got into Tabor I got a package.
BUA sends a package via USPS. (or has in past).
Commonwealth and CA send big envelopes… Not sure about others.
If you want to be really compulsive, look at various schools instagram pages from March of last year (or prior). Many schools post photos of them packing up mail, etc.
And, of course, they may do something entirely different this year:)
Last Year, St Andrews and Mercersburg did as well. Taft did not. The Big ones do.
Lawrence Academy sent out a package but that was like a few years ago
I know Millbrook and Miss Porter’s sent packages last year. Millbrook actually sent one to my daughter overseas. Miss Porter’s said if she committed to coming, they would send her the box and just sent a picture of what was in it! I get that it’s expensive to send things overseas, but I thought that was pretty funny.
My daughter is at Exeter. She was admitted on March 10, 2022, and is now a junior – aka, “upper” – at PEA. We were instructed in advance by PEA to check her decision results via the Exeter portal at 8 a.m. on March 10. She did get a welcome package from them that day; I think it came via FedEx.
Choate also told us in advance that the decision would be available at 8 a.m. on the 10th of March. St. Andrews told us in advance that their decision would come at 10 a.m.
Curious whether we will see packages on Mar 10, which is a Sunday this year. It is available (for an extra fee I am sure); so I hope so.
I thought the decisions would come out earlier like 4 years ago.
