The Official M10 2024 Freakout Thread

Do most places post via FedEx and UPS, not USPS? Also this is an odd cycle with M10 falling on Sunday – not sure if there will be actual deliveries that day! (Just trying to go with the flow and planning to view the news on portals, but it’s challenging with all of these potential technology hacks!)

I think they’ll either deliver on m11 or m8.

They did our year. Not sure about now. We also have USPS Informed Delivery which is also free, so that’s another way to make sure.

As for M10 falling on a Sunday, not sure how they’re handling.

The slightly unnerving thing for us 3 years ago was that some schools send emails notifying you that decisions are available (or the actual decision letter) right after midnight, others in the morning or even later in the day and others expect you to just log into the portal without a notifying email.

One, admittedly day school, package came via USPS for us. I was able to track it in advance, as well.

Agree with you not to sign up, but your sage advice will inevitably fall on many deaf ears.

Package Notification Stress is an annual tradition on CC.

Thanks

Does anyone know if currently attending a competitive private school helps you in admissions?

Probably.

Most likely, because they know that you have a challenge and can thrive in a competitive environment.

I finally finished all my apps I just finished my Andover apps. YAY!!!   :tada: :tada: :tada:

Hello everyone. It feels like so far away and yet rapidly moving in warp speed for everything. Trying to get into the normal routine of life in the meantime…

Good luck to all!

Does anyone know how we will be notified and when–Do we get an email? Do we log into portals at a specific time? If anyone is more knowledgeable than I am please share.

Some schools notify via email to check the portal (no decisions on email) and some don’t. Everyone should see the decisions on their portals on M10 at different times.

With the caveat that he didn’t apply to any GLADCHEMMS schools, 3 years ago when older son applied, it was one of 3 ways on 3/10:

  1. Email w decision letter
  2. Email advising to look at portal for decision
  3. No notice, just look at portal for decision.

And the earliest decision came in at just after midnight and the latest in the afternoon, with most coming in the early AM.

We got lucky and the school that notified just after midnight was an acceptance for one of his top choices, so we were all able to get some sleep!

Last year I either got it in the afternoon or early in the morning.

If I remember correctly, I think most, if not all, of my daughter’s schools sent a congratulatory email and the decision was also in the portal. She did not apply to any GLADCHEMMS either.

She also had that one school that added us (her parents) to a WhatsApp group the week prior to decisions coming out - kind of like an accidental early notification of an acceptance. They didn’t realize that we would be notified of the creation of the group even if the AO didn’t write anything or send a message. Oops.

DS only applied to two of the eight schools and received emails early in the morning. Good luck to all.

To the experienced parents out there I have a question

Are SSAT scores considered more rigorous than MAP and state test scores?

Yes.
