<p>Luck saves me again!!!..My aga khan test was bad(left like 25 questions…no watch so no track of time)…but cleared it with 66%…our school rocks!!!..all three of us who gave the test got shortlisted!!!..i know abt a guy frm peshawer who has gotten 79% …wow…gud for him…(i feel so inferior!!!)…
but now people tell me how to decieve the admission committee into thinkin that i m the right candidate??..any suggestion!!!

yaar… every university has some sort of pros and cons…yeah the place what can you ask for…its in the city where everything is available…i have been in Detroit which is a far worst case…where as Philly is a lot better and then again the security is tight there and Upenn is rit there so its not a bad place but the thing is u have to be extremely careful…so where r u planning on going and where are you from?</p>

<p>theboss Drexel is safer in comparison to Penn since we are closer the line which divided the projects and west philadelphia! I go to Penn I feel Drexel being far east is way safer then Penn, but I live on the 39th street and its recommended not to go beyond 44th, but you should be fine! Btw can I ask why Drexel?</p>

<p>they say that the buildings are not the most attractive, if you know what i mean. and they say that it does have a good education, it is in the top 100 schools in the u.s. i found this on cc, hope it helps </p>

1. Academics: We were checking out their graphics design and new media program. The person who headed up the department gave a lecture on what was going on. I was quite impressed. I also met parents who participated in computer science and engineering, and they too liked what they heard.Drexel also does a lot of interdisciplinary projects, which give students great experience. Also, they have a top rated co-op program.However, most co-op jobs are in Pennsylvania. Drexel, is also very computer saavy and has lots of computer labs. However, I didn’t feel that they had as many computers per student or as wired as say Carnegie Mellon, which I also toured and will discuss in a separate thread. Although Drexel is primarily known for engineering, it had a large number of interest students in its design and new media program. Average SATs for Drexel is around 1200 and they have a 13/1 student teacher ratio, according to the lecturer. I think for engineering and Science, the average SAT is higher. From what I have seen, I would give the school a B to B+ in academics.</p>

<li><p>Parking: Parking is somewhat tough there. It is a city school with very little parking. There is one covered parking garage , and that is it. I heard that there are other non-covered parking lots but didn’t see them.Drexel, however, is accessible through the Phily subway system and Amtrak. Overall, C- in parking. By the way, parking isn’t cheap. As for 2007-2008 year, the charge is $339 per semester.</p></li>
<li><p>Food: They probably had the worst college food that I have ever tasted. I couldn’t believe that they would serve such slop to visitors. Honestly, the food was mostly fried and greasy. The only good part of it was that they had decent ( but not great) pizza. There wasn’t a lot of choices for lunch either. For example, there was no chicken or hamburgers,but lots of pasta. They had a salad bar, but the lettice looked wilted. They also didn’t have a host of topings. Overall F in food. No kidding.</p></li>
<li><p>Dorms: The building were nice on the outside,but inside were rather small and dreary. I didn’t get to see all the dorms ,but what I saw was underwhelming. Many were old and refurbished years ago. I would give them a C for dorms. Also, The actual “campus” of Drexel appeared safe. However, if you walk couple of blocks from the freshmen dorms, I didn’t get the same feeling of safety.</p></li>
<li><p>Quality of Life: The student center was fairly nice with a large pool. However, the pool table needed some work and they really didn’t have a large number of tread mills for all the students (maybe 12). Gym facilties were about average. In fact, I found that most of the buildings had a bit of a drab feel. Overall, I would give it a C-C+</p></li>
<li><p>Student’s feelings about the school: We approached several students. Most felt that the academics were good, but as we observed, they didn’t have much to say about anything else. We got the feeling that most students weren’t very happy with the Drexel environment.</p></li>
<li><p>Tuition and fees for 2007-2008 were about $29,000 per year for those that stay 5 years due to taking coops $35,400 for those not taking coops and taking the four year program. They thus give you a bit of a break if you will be there for 5 years and participate in coops. Room and board would be around $$11,600 more. </p></li>
</ol>

<p>Bottom line: I think Drexel is a good school, especially for its engineering, science and art and design programs. If you combine the good academic offerings plus “moderate” pricing plus very good co- op program, they offer a good academic/vocational experiece,but little else. Although I do feel that having a decent engineering and strong media design department adds to the diversity of kids at the school, I felt it was overall a slightly inferior version of RIT and a lot less in quality to Carnegie Mellon. I also wondered why a Pennsylvania kid would choose Drexel over some very good state university options such as Temple and Penn State. Perhaps the coops are their unique selling proposition. Definitely, you should check it out. You may not agree with our assessment

<p>Some person who visited Drexel wrote this review. I personally think that you should try to visit the campus, if you can, the worst thing that can happen is that you come all the way here and you are miserable in college because then it is really hard to concentrate on your classes. my uncle, who lives in lahore, sent his son (my cousin) to boston university, and he hated it. he went back after a trimester…i am not saying that you will not like it, just that you should check it out before making such a big decision.</p>

<p>Everyone is different I guess. I mean I do not like Philadelphia especially right now (final week), its raining half the time and its very gloomy. I find the drexel campus to be very depressing and away from everything, its built next to the train tracks, and stores are pretty inaccessible you would have to make your way to Penn Square to do anything! But thats me, if it wasnt for Penn I would have hated Philly! </p>

<p>As far as BU goes, I am from Lahore and I just love Boston, the best city in the US, its young, and a very very open city, reminds me of london!</p>

<p>Well, I personally have never been to Philadelphia but i heard it is a really old city…i have been to boston and i agree, with you, i loved it. i think it depends on the type of person you are…</p>

<p>i dont mind the rain though…it never rains in california (well almost never) it is so hot right now that it reminds me of Pakistan in the summer. i personally don’t like it when it is hot… don’t think that you could pass some of the rain over, could you? :)</p>

ummm…originally from lahore…I am going to high school in Michigan and I got this email saying that I shud apply as a VIP applicant and I sent that in and never expected to get the money I got which is very gud but rather I got in some of the top engineering programs like purdue and ut-Austin’s but I thought my decision and figured that Drexel would be the best and btw u are at Penn…tell me about it and howz the life and howz everything there??? are there any pakistanis at either places?? I figured that even tho I am going to drexel I kinda want to keep some interaction with the penn people…do tell some about overall philly even tho u dont like it that much.,… pm me if u have to</p>

<p>I’ve heard that although Penns campus is kinda depressing, it’s nowhere near as bad as Drexel’s campus. But that’s what he said. UPENN has a quite a few Pakistanis. Since you’re going to a HS in Mich why didn’t you apply to UMich Ann Arbor? It’s an amazing college dude.</p>

<p>Guyz everyone is getting their lums decisions. But no one from my school has heard from them yet, including me obviously. I was exempted from the lcat doesn’t that make me one of the stronger applicants? How come I haven’t heard yet? Is it possible that I get rejected?
Btw someone said that they prefer A Levels to High School Diploma, is this true? I applied on the basis of High School Diploma, only one A Level and am not giving any more because I only applied to US universities.</p>

The Princeton Review ranked Drexel 2nd for “Campus Is Tiny, Unsightly, or Both,” 12th for “Professors Make Themselves Scarce,” 7th for “Long Lines and Red Tape,” 14th for “Least Happy Students,” and 15th for “Professors Get Low Marks”.[17] Radar Magazine also ranked Drexel’s campus as the ugliest in the nation.[18] However, in recent years, greater strides have been taken to beautify the campus.

<p>Radar Online had a really good discription about Drexel’s environment. They had various opinions from people too, but the article no longer exists it was 2008 edition. Hopefully, they have renovated the campus.</p>

<p>I swear I’m not trying to dishearten you in any way, I am going to attend BYU (No.1 most religious university in US! Just imagine what would that be like.) Still, I know couple of people who made it out of there and are now living good! P.S. they have a friendly substance/alcohol free environment, i like that! ;)</p>
