I think that joke should be saved for an “all boys” forum since I think we have girls in our presence!

Really we do? I was not aware of that and in that case I sincerely apologize. I hope anyone I offended forgives my attempts to humour you all :)

I wasn’t aware of any significant others either. :P

I believe whenwillitend is a whatchamacallit significant other

well boy… I think it means STANFORD is URS ths year…! Wish you best of luck. And do pray for me as well.!

What time can we expect Berkeley decisions to be out?

^ Berkeley is out at 5am on the 27th for us, so i’ll probably check it when i wake up tomorrow.

@MindHunter

InshAllah everyone will be able to get their dream university! I think Stanford takes 6-7 kids a year from Pakistan, lets hope its most of us here!

Any new admits? I think LAC’s should be coming out soon?

Hi guys, well in the midst of the Gettysburgs and UChicago’s, LUMS is pretty much nothing, but hey, will I be meeting anyone of you guys on the SSE interviews?

@ Flibb
getting into Lums SSE is at times tougher than getting into most US unis. when is your interview. nah i didnt apply for sse.

So, I’ve been reading this thread for a while and I’m taking that all of you are pretty much brainiacs (don’t attack me, I meant that as a compliment).

Well, anyhow I completed my A’Levels last year and got into Dartmouth and Wooster but only 50% aid from both, so my parents didn’t let me go because we couldn’t pay. Hence, I end up here taking random courses at a local university for fun but applying again.

So far, here’s the deal: Oberlin rejected me, I’m wait-listed at Franklin and Marshall.
I’m waiting on Colgate, Williams, Middlebury and Hamilton. And I’m a transfer for Grinnell, so that won’t be out till May.

I really want to get into Colgate, but at this point getting in anywhere is a luck thing, so I’m hoping for the best but preparing for the worst.

Somebody, make me feel better. PLEASE!

Welcome to the thread idolseacrest! As for making you feel better, all I can say is that if you got into Dartmouth, and that too with 50% aid, then Colgate ought to be easy game.

^^^ Grinell should be easy for you as well considering you got into Dartmouth, I say you have a good shot of getting into Grinell with full aid! I have a friend who is there with 70% FA and she had a 1700’s SAT score, 3.8 GPA etc. What are your numbers?

That’s the thing, I’m pretty sure Dartmouth was pity or really really rare good luck. I hope I still have some residual on me from the Leprechauns.

I have a 2120 SAT I. 790Math 660CR 670W with an 11 on the Essay. 114 on TOEFL iBT.
My O’ Level and A’ Level were okay, not great but good, but I did have a distinction in General Paper. But I’m worried my academics may not be amazingly stellar and might cost me everything.

Oh well, I’m praying that something happens. Good luck to you all! I hope you all get into great schools. :)

I don’t think so. Transfers are abnormally competitive, and applying with aid makes them almost impossible. Don’t get me wrong, but I strongly believe you should fear for the most in this case.

Oo…extremely easy to get into without aid.

Wooster doesn’t give more than 50% aid - ever

Maybe Williams and Hamilton if you can write like Hemingway. Midd won’t be giving a lotta aid this season so it together with Colgate, which has already taken two Pakistanis, are reaches. High reaches, in my book.

And did I just make you feel better…?? SORRYYYYY!!!

@ idolseacrest, I don’t want to disappoint you, but so far from what we can see, US colleges/universities have reduced aid for internationals significantly over the year. Last year, people with average stats were getting admitted into good Liberal Arts with nice aid offers. but this year, because of the recession,it has changed.

The game is right. you’ll need- like the rest of us- a lot of luck with the remaining schools. it will all be about money. and colleges are really short of it. but there is hope yet. You have a distinction in general paper which could be something tht really sets you apart.
but you should have applied to more places. didnt you apply to other LACs

anyway hamilton decisions coming out on March 27th at 8:00pm EST so better keep your fingers crossed.

@Karpov: SSE interview on the 6th April!

@Flibb
One of my friends has his interview on the 4th.
Remind me to ask him about it so I can tell you what kinds of questions are asked.
