I’m getting sick of this. I know the chances of my ending up anywhere but LUMS are remote but knowing that there is a minute chance of getting admitted elsewhere is simply killing me. I’m going to e-mail Notre Dame and Haverford and ask them to just tell me that I’ve been rejected so my mind can be put at ease

@Thegame
Well man, I havent though about it yet coz i know it wont happen lik that. But if it does, thn I will let u know about my intentions. If i get scholahip for oxford,I perhaps wll chose Oxford.

@Talha
congratz boi. wat aout aid or scholarship?

@ aak

man ask thm when is ND giving decisins?

From BSS. :)

hey! free, you got aid?,its what the name suggests :D

I have been fascinated by reading the last few pages of this. I was actually looking up sample interview questions for my brother who has his LUMS SSE interview test coming up, and ended up reading the views of some very ambitious pakistanis, which makes me feel v happy!

Anyway, I am currently a sophomore at Grinnell (if any of you did apply there, (i cant be expected to go through 80 pages) but am willing to help you out in any way although I dont think it really matters now). For the record, I went to Froebels. My reason for attending Grinnell was based on fin aid as it is with most internationals.

One thing you guys might have noticed is how it is MUCH more easier to get admitted if you are a US citizen or perm resident. I will not post my stats here, but had I been one of these two groups, I would certainly be in an ivy or comparable right now.

I basically have three major pieces of advice to you:
- Do not plan on transferring once you get to college and you are not a citizen or perm resident. There are prob less than 30 schools in the US that offer intl transfers aid. Besides, the admission rate at these 30 places is so small (from 5 - 1.5%)that its easier to win a lottery than get admitted as an intl transfer. The same rules do not apply to US citizens/PR who have a much wider selection of schools to choose from.
- Location matters more than prestige. Grinnell may be no 14, better than say for example trinity in CT or union in NY. What the rankings dont tell you is how many recruiters come for jobs. While Trinity is much lower down, it enjoys a lot of people coming to campus to interview students for internships + jobs, which does not happen at Grinnell, or to most small colleges which are not near major cities. One more thing. I am assuming all of you are from isb/khi/lhr. Check the location of your future school v carefully. Most people who have lived in a city despise living in small US towns, especially if they dont have a car, which most of you wont unless you are rolling in cash. The second note of advice is to base your factor on more than just rankings. Unless any of you are interested in ibanking or consulting, it does not matter which school you go to for academic reasons. No. 120 will not be much worse than No. 20. The US news rankings create this perception, but all US colleges are much closes in caliber than what the rankings suggest (yes I have been here two years and have friends who go to many different places so I can say that)
- When budgeting, remember the actual cost is 10% more. So if the ticket price is $ 30k, plan for 33k, considering in mind airfare (which is 2k return), a laptop (0.5-1k) and other expenses that you will incur in getting settled your first 6 months etc etc

I dont really read this, so if you have a question, email me at rahimahs@grinnell.edu, and if you want everyone else to read the response, just post it here and shoot me an email so I can reply over here for everyone to see.

Best of luck to all of you!

Wow that was great stuff…thanks rahimahs!

ok so the college list needs to be updated as far as kgs is concerned. theGame or determined or whoever else is updating the list please add this (if its not there)
