The official Pakistani Thread for the class of 2013

Welcome Adnan!

Yeah, we should all keep in mind that these are just opinions! For me, not everyone gets into unis abroad on 90%+ financial aid…and for those, LUMS is one of the best options in Pakistan, when compared to GIKI/NUST etc, which again, are one of the most highly regarded unis in our country!

and, erm, just to let you guys know, GIKI Science fair registration deadline is 10th of Feb, and LUMS olympiad registration deadline is 8th of Feb! I cant go to GIKI, as I cant make a team :(

LUMS Olympiad, Oh yeah!

Any one knows of LGS MUN? Where can I get info about it people?

Yeah very nice to see that now Talha is here too.

Wow. I didnt knew there was a pakistani thread as well. its good to see one.

Anyway I have heard sse has a very low acceptance rate. That means I better kiss goodbye to my chances at LUMS :(

I am very good chess player. If i do get accepted I ll be the highest rated chess player in lums history.(not really sure though about their chess history)

Karpov was also the name of a very famous Russian chess player. Are you inspired by him or some other Karpov, huh Karpov?

@ Flibb, I think I’ll be at the LUMS Olympiad too. I went to GIMUN (GIKI), it wasn’t fun. I’d recommend you attend LUMS Olympiad (If you haven’t participated in previous years) I attended the LUMS Olympiad '08, it was AMAZING! :)

Yeah Flibb, I agree, not everyone gets a free ride in U.S. Colleges! I’m glad that Game got the offer. I’ve applied to Gettysburg as well. I don’t really like the preppy attitude that most of its students have there! (Well, I haven’t really been there, so I guess I shouldn’t be saying that.)

No matter how many places I’ve applied to for admission but one things for sure, if this doesn’t work out, PAKISTAN ZINDABAD! NUST or LSE(Lahore) would be my options. After all, LUMS and Stanford are almost equally competitive universities to get into.

Best of Luckk guys!!

@ uneeb i am
Yeah it is dedicatd to Karpov- my fav. chess player.

And hate to break it to you but i am the best chess player in Pakistan. The second best is at Lums SSE already. Ratings? which ratings are you talking about

Yeah i am usually very modest.

In case you are wondering
Bring it on. To quote MAtt Damon
I’ll bust you up all night

No seriously
I havent played a good chess game in a long time
How good are you really?

Are you sure you are not a friend of mine in disguise?

About KArpov. HE was the true innovator. Kasparov and these new guys are just computers. He actually invented sequences unheard of.

Thanks for the info Talha! Okay, I’m very sure about LUMS Olympiad now! Hope to se you there…what school are you from btw? I’m living in ISL as well!.. I guess Its time for everyone to tell their schools in the least…no? I await enlightenment…

So Karpov, I shall now definitely attent the LUMS chess competition, I shall easily know you as the winner  Anyone going to the olympiad, I look forward to seeing you…I think I’ll be doing the Photo Essay!

Whats the point of the photo essays btw if you arent going to physically participate in anything? Wondering…

And anyone knows about LGS MUN?

Nah then you’ll look in vain. I aint going. The Game did say something though like he might go.
Anyway there Chess players are famous for their ineptitude. Last year a friend beat there best player pretty easily. But since then SSE has arrived. And perhaps they actually have some players now.
I am sure we’ll hear something on this score from i am uneeb soon enough.

I’m from Roots (DHA Campus), Flibb. What about you? I don’t know which event I’ll be participating in!

These days everyone here seems to be from Roots

I never heard of Roots until I came on this thread :D

Now that’s a better punch line, Karpov

I’m from Roots :P

lol, although I do resent the fact that it is Another branch, not DHA, roots that I am talking about here…you shall be surprised by the difference in the standard of academics/counseling/activities of the two branches, but then, It’s not like you’d want to know :D

So, any one else wants to break where he/she is from?

Still can’t imagine I actually found a rootsian here! So we see you at LUMS talha!
