The OFFICIAL School of Cinematic Arts Discussion 2009

woah woah woah… Candy45- your status changed today? Thats bizarre… haven’t heard of any other SCA kids getting updates recently. Hmmm, it must be a good sign though. Did you get an oasis link?

qzar,

I’m worried because technically, I would not be at “transfer” standing in the writing program. All 26 students who get admitted into writing had the same deadline, and must complete the four year program, regardless of their previous educational standing. We’d be taking all the same classes as a whole. Therefore, it makes no sense that I’d hear back in June, or that they’d hold, say, five out of the twenty-six spots for transfers, and deliberate two months later. Maybe I’m wrong, but that seems really short-witted.

It may have something to do with the university.

updaaattteee

no link though!

No update para me. I turn 18 tomorrow, though!

Happy early birthday! I hope USC wishes you one, too! :D

yeah… seriously.

If I’m not going to make it, why don’t they just tell me? I’m wearing out my mail box and brain.

I know the feeling…we’ll all know soon enough though :]

roar2112,

I never thought of that. I should call and see how all that meshes together. I wonder if the actual university might still be deciding on my admission as a transfer, which would then mean that SCA would have to wait on their choice in order to mail me a decision. I sure hope not. I’d really hate to wait until the “June” letters are mailed. Four months, in all honesty, has already been hell. Another two more, and I might just go crazy…

Seriously. Don’t call. They’re probably flooded with calls.

Just be patient!

Add one more critical studies major from Facebook. Senior is from New York state.

got back from my mailbox 2 seconds ago. Nothing again. I know that they could possibly be sent out April 1st, meaning the 4th should be the VERY last possible day… and thats still 8 days away…but still very tiring.

Status is still stuck on 3/19 with no OASIS.

EDYE28–I was just thinking…you wouldn’t be considered a transfer at all, since you’ve already gotten a degree, right? … Anyway, I’m pretty sure all writing applicants are considered in the same pool, transfer or not, because it’s such a small program that has to go four years and all that. But wow, you’ve got a great resume there. Did the USC grad write your rec? I mean, you’ve got much better chances than me by a long shot-I’m just this kid who likes to write and stupidly decided to apply to the best film school in the country. I basically have no film experience whatsoever. I actually can’t believe I’m still hoping, it’s sort of ridiculous. I really wish they’d just hurry up with the rejections, the false hope is what kills me.
Well, good luck waiting, and let me know what happens.

I got into USC this week, still waiting on the SCA acceptance/rejection… anyone know when they’re coming?

wow, i’m jealous! you should post your stats on the stats page!

Here is another SCA admit from Facebook.

 1. Critical Studies 1 - Chicago

i wish i had a facebook to post on that site and ask what their status currently says…yes i know, i’m obsessed with statuses…i’m just so preoccupied with them…bc i’ve had a 3/6, 3/19, 3/26 update and it’s driving me crazy…

luckygirl1791,

Don’t say that! Just because someone has no film experience does not mean that the school would reject them. USC is VERY particular in wanting to teach people film their own way. I think that’s why freshmen get the most spots, because they’d like to start new. Oh, and about the degree thing, I had to apply as a transfer because I have an AA(two year) degree. I’d basically be transferring those credits towards a B.A/B.F.A, but not for this school, which thankfully, you already understand. Most people don’t get what I’m saying about the program. But seriously, don’t someonelse’s experience get you down. I’ll keep trying to get into film as long as possible, and doing so through a college is not the only way, but it is a way to surround yourself with other film enthusiasts and people you can trust, who’ll inform you of the industry. Good writing is what will get us in, in my opinion. Nothing else.

Yea good writing. And lots of hard work. Also I believe that never putting a time limit on your success is important.

Nothing for me! -production
