I think we should replace the word “Berkeley” with “Jesus” and start a for-profit religion. Who’s with me?

Lol I am definitely going to go see eventually, but what if I go to cal day and then I don’t even get accepted! Devastation will occur! devastation of my heart! haha

I’m actually fairly confident I will get in though, and I really don’t want to miss cal day…maybe I’ll just suck it up and spend the $60 on gas and do it haha

hahha silly xelink. all religions are for profit :P

Of course, the Berkeley religion would be the most profitable of them all!

Today I had work 9a-3p…class 4p-10p…came home to find my SD packet came. Celebrated by smoking a cigar and watching the Office while eating some tacos from Del. Started studying at 11p for my Bio exam tomorrow which I’ve been doing ever since.

GET ME OUT OF THIS CC!!!

most religions are break even from what I understand. The only real exception would be scientology but that’s another story and heck I could be wrong, I’m just regurgitating things others told me.

if you send me $50, I can increase your odds of getting into cal by 1%
also eternal happiness.

I don’t know. Haven’t you seen the popemobile? That’s no Hyundai Elantra.

Lol your right I was just joking
(at least they are all classified as “non-profit” organizations, legally)

Though that $50 offer sounds like a good deal, where could I go wrong with an extra 1% chance!! Do you have irrefutable proof that your method actually works? And if I make it $100 would I get 2%? hahaha
I’d better stop talking like this before some mod thinks we’re serious and bans us for participating in a “ucla trick thread” - like enterprise

“hahha silly xelink. all religions are for profit :P”

^^ hahaha I laughed hard at this.

Actually empathy and xelink, the Catholic church is the most wealthy institution in the world…Multiple centuries of looting, persecution, exploitation, and sermons that utilize more psychological techniques than theology have contributed to this.

lol I’m not extremely against the Catholic church or anything, but I’m definitely not a proponent of it either.

it’s a logarithmic increase, but I’m sure if you donate enough you’ll get in, and if you don’t, donate more next time.

I’m not exactly catholic… ehh

all I know is that my church pastor lives a relatively humble life for a guy who has a master’s degree.

Sounds like a sure-fire plan xelink! I can’t go wrong!

lol emil I know! We (the congregation) don’t really have any control over how any of the money that we gave to god is spent. They can decide how much their own salaries should be, etc.

I’m an atheist, you won’t catch me defending any churches.

I’ve seen the pope mobile - I would really hate to be that guy hahaha

I don’t want to be a clergy member for anything other than the church of the bear. Please send cash, credit cards, social security numbers or anything else of use. It will increase your chances

Holy crap I’m watching the evolution of a new religion right now, I’ve gotta tell my Anthro teacher about this! Now it’s got a name, it began accepting a variety of payment methods, AND it wants to use some sort of “identification number” to classify its members — Could this be the sign of the devil!!! No, course not, its the Church of the Bear

I am so not getting as much studying done for my chem midterm tomorrow as I should be haha

I can’t sleep. Thought I’d join the thread although I’m ususally ignored. Lol the middle child syndrome feels like it’s kicking in again…
I’m so bored I am going through my messages on this dating site… Omg I don’t even know why I have an account because I would never write any of these people back let alone meet them.
If I get into Berkeley at least if I meet a guy there I’ll at least know he is somewhat intelligent. Considering I’ve heard that in general the girls aren’t very cute I should be able to find myself a good one :).

Unfortunately, Victoria, Berkeley Goggles go both ways. Your good guy will only be good relative to the others.

Churches are non-profits, my friends.

With the exception of a few (often huge churches) like the Catholic church that don’t deserve to be considered non-profits because they involve themselves with how and on what their members should vote. This is something that I, as a social justice-oriented Christian, highly disagree with to the maximum extent. I believe that if you’re doing your job and your church members are followers of Jesus’s true teachings, they would be able to make their own decisions on things like voting, etc without the influence of a hierarchal figure. And I honestly believe that if the members were, in fact, followers of Jesus’s true teachings, they’d vote VERY differently than how the Catholic church tells them to vote. Jesus didn’t teach people to be condescending, to judge other people’s fates, or to believe they were going to be saved. I don’t care what “The Church” says, the bible doesn’t tell us how exactly or who exactly will be saved and making judgements on such things is foolish (read: an attempt of controlling the population). This is the difference between the Christian right and the Christian left. The right loves to feel like they’re going to be saved while at the same time practicing ethnocentricity, racism, etc. The Christian left says, “Hey look, we don’t know if you’re going to be saved and we don’t know if we’re going to be saved and to be honest, we don’t really care… It’s besides the point. Now let’s get to work and start helping out those in poverty and under oppression.”

In the same way that people who work for non-profits take salaries, donations, etc, all churches are also non-profits.

And also, for your leftists who are aggressively against religion, you should realize that your fight should be to educate and show people who religion can, has been, and will be used as a tool for population control. Religion in itself is a part of culture and personal identity. Simply arguing for the destruction of religion is arguing for the destruction of a culture and an identity. I’m not sure you guys understand how interlinked religion is to oneself when one has a high religiosity.

Lol I don’t really like the main stream type guys. In fact I have been accused on more than one occassion of being a chubby chaser. Lol. Really though my ideal type a lovable offensive lineman. Normally I go more for the bigger jock type guys who aren’t all that smart… Not too sure I will find this at Berkeley lol.
I know a thing about “blank” goggles. I did this americorps program which was full time volunteering for 10 months and boy are those goggles something. There was also the 3-9-1 rule. The person is 3 when you first met them. Later in the program they turn into a 9. And looking back they turn into a 1.

@Victoria Yeah, you might have a hard time meeting your type. But you sound as if you’re single, so maybe what you think is your type really isn’t… 3-9-1 I’ve had one of those, but it was the personality that wavered. I used to be really shallow, but not so much anymore. I’ve had my fill of dumb girls; although, beauty is still important in so far as it isn’t at the cost of brains.
