Yeah I’m curious what that 1 post was…I’m not sure if I remember that.

Anyway, sounds good man, hit me up tomorrow or something. I’ve got an all-nighter ahead of me. Taking 3 psych classes at once in the same day was a baaaad idea.

Laker needs a dynamic IP.

@emil you have to mark EOP on your app, then you use the 3rd prompt to argue why you deserve it. I didn’t know about EOP until after I submitted. One of the many benefits of EOP is an explicit increase in your chance of admission and even “admission by exception” where your stats can be miserable, but so long at you show that you can achieve despite your stats, they admit you.

I really regret not doing EOP. I might appeal and EOP will be my compelling change.

So…you guys still awake? haha
Wait empathy what are you talking about dude - I just got the same email about santa barbara eop and I didn’t do a third prompt - at least I don’t remember doing one
Please explain if you have more info, I have no idea what eop even is

yeah there are so many options to bypass an IP ban im surprised he hasnt done so.

so youre saying because i clicked EOP on my UC app that I will get accepted to UCLA and CAL too?

They have to think you are worthy of EOP, and that still doesn’t clinch it. You just get an extra boost to you application “score.”

[University of California, Santa Barbara EOP - EOP Home](Home | Educational Opportunity Program)

That still doesn’t clinch what? Apparently I’m already in eop? And what is so good about eop! I’m not even sure what I’m looking at here haha

Do all schools offer it?

oh ok I see your link, I was just looking at the same thing. Is it basically like a super counseling club?

yep i got that email. they have their own counselors so registration will be a breeze.

Nice jane! So that’s it, it mostly helps with registration?

no they have Emergency Grants

just make up some b.s. and BAM book money.

EOP helps you get admitted, so it doesn’t clinch admittance. EOP entitles you to special privileges/services once you are admitted as well; such as, special counseling, financial aid, more leeway when experiencing academic problems, priority registration (I think), etc. It’s actually different for every school – but it’s always better than not having it.

Ohhhh, but I’m already admitted. Wouldn’t everybody be admitted if they “got” eop? From the website it kinds seems like all students can use eop

God I’m being such a noob right now and asking so many questions haha

@ Jane - No freakin way! And this “emergency grant” thing is only available to those who have been “accepted” into eop?

Sooo just clicking the EOP option and explaining why I may deserve it would have boosted my app?? Ughhh lol. How did I not know about this. Lol and I thought I knew pretty much everything about this transfer process. Oh well, nothing I can do now, right?

I always thought EOP was like something for ppl that speak a 2nd language, or were low EFC, or something along those lines. :(.

solidblu- i found this on their FAQ
Am I in EOP?

Students who checked yes on the UC Admissions application expressing their interest in being an EOP student will be considered for EOP membership. If students meet the income and first generation requirements they will be admitted into EOP and will receive an enrollment letter and/or letter from EOP. Students who did not meet criteria or did not indicate their interest on the admissions application may visit EOP and request to walk-in.

No, everybody does not qualify for EOP that applies for it nor does it guarantee admission (hence, “it doesn’t clinch it”). And not everyone can use those services. Those are special services for YOU and other EOP people.

That’s what I thought EOP was too, emil.

@ jane: Ahhh ok so since I’m not a first generation student and since my family has a strong income, I wouldn’t have been considered for EOP anyway right? Would checking it off still have padded my app a bit?

Sorry for all the questions guys; I’m just floored by the fact that I’ve never heard of this lol.

Yeah, you probably wouldn’t qualify and thus, wouldn’t get the boost.

@jane I know UCSB is making itself a little hard to resist! Now, if only Berkeley would accept me and give me eop too… :D

So how would you guys think of eop? is it like a game-changer? I mean, if you were accepted into say, Irvine, and got eop for it, and you were accepted into Berkeley, and got no EOP, would you go to Irvine just for the EOP? (assuming that Berkeley was your first choice?)

@emil I’m totally with you man I have no idea what I’m looking at here

emilsinclair9- im assuming that it would have added some points because they would have to review your app further because you clicked on it.
