@ocnative, yeah that’s a good point! the competitiveness and also the contrast of my hometown to Berkeley. I mean I loved Berkeley, but I felt so awkward there too.

but yeah now i’m convinced that all schools are quite competitive so I just have to bring it:) So for that part, I’m okay now

@failure622, thanks for the link! rly helpful

I did consider UCLA for awhile. I like the campus a lot and the many opportunities available there in the LA area. After weighing in the options though, I didn’t see myself enjoying UCLA as much. I wanted a change of scenery.

@ocnative
I am considering everything.
I don’t like the weather or traffic or “city” life.
Which probably makes anyone wonder why on earth I am considering UCLA at all if I don’t like big cities and the academics for my specific interest are stronger at Cal… well, UCLA has the golden snitch (Harry Potter reference) for me but I’m starting to see Cal might have it too. Life is complicated.

i’m planning to take a summer class at my community college. On the terms of conditions on the myberkeley website, it says to notify the admissions counselor before enrolling in a summer class.

Does this only apply to Berkeley summer classes or ALL summer classes?

I’m starting to get really nervous because I still haven’t SIR’d (I’m waiting for a financial aid package from my top choice) and all of this is looking really overwhelming, haha. Whether or not I take summer classes/what summer classes I want to take are completely dependent on whether or not I go to Berkeley. If yes, I have to take a bio class to finish up my pre-reqs per my pre-req fulfillment report during the app update. If not, I plan on taking philosophy (didn’t fulfill that lower division reqs for my top choice because I focused on my Berkeley reqs and because I’d be a sophomore transfer there).

@Freetofly112 Georgetown University. As far as ranking and prestige go, Berkeley and Georgetown are the same and Georgetown will undoubtedly be the far more expensive experience, but my family and I have weighed the pros and cons between the two and have decided that unless Georgetown is prohibitively costly, we’ll take the leap.
