The Official UCB Fall of 2014 Decisions Thread

@Cayton

Haha. It’s all good, we’re both going to our dream schools!

Thanks a lot! It’s going to be hard to decline UCLA’s offer of admission. I haven’t SIR’d to Berkeley yet but I’m going to soon! :slight_smile:

@onehandedred‌

A few pages back somebody with a 3.83 GPA stated that they were accepted. I basically had the same numbers. I did not apply to UCB though. Thought it would be a waste of money since my heart was really set at going to UCLA and wanting to stay in SoCal.

Accepted!

@kio3063
I unfortunately did not get accepted, but I’m dedicating all of my remaining energy into writing an appeal. Berkeley is my dream school, so I’m going to exhaust all that I can before I submit to my second choice :)

Additional Details:
Applied for Financial Aid?: N
State (if domestic applicant): NV
Country (if international applicant):
Ethnicity: Filipino/Japanese
Gender: F

Incomplete prerequisites must’ve negatively impacted my application…especially for such a competitive major. There goes my dream…but I won’t give up. There’s still next year!

Rejected :frowning: I’m considering appealing though.

Major: Psychology
Overall GPA: 3.7
Major GPA: 3.85
Major Requirements: Completed except for one class (anatomy)
IGETC: I’ll be certified after this sem.
TAP: No
Applied for Financial Aid?: no
Essays: I thought they were really good. I talked about having some medical difficulties and how that related to my choice of major.
EC: 12+ units of honors credit, Eagle Scout, tutor/caregiver for my neighbor who is autistic, UCSD comp sci intern

Applied: UCLA, UCB, UCSB, UCSC
Accepted: UCSB
Denied: UCLA, UCB
(Keep checking UCSC’s site and they say it’s in review still, ughh)
Gender: Male
Ethnicity: White

I think the biggest thing that made application weak is the fact that I’m taking 20 units this semester, but the semesters almost over and I’m gonna end up with mostly As and some Bs. I’ll be at a total of 60 units and IGETC certified.

Should I appeal and ask them to reconsider? I’ve been working my a** off and to be denied from both of my dream schools (Cal and UCLA) is a bit of a bummer.

Also (mild rant here), It seems like out-of-state transfers have become the priority because the UC system can squeeze more $ out of them.

Accepted!

As my username indicates, I wasn’t going to take no for an answer, so I did everything I possibly could to get into Cal. Hard work does pay off, so if you are working your ass off, studying in the library everyday, you will get in. Just keep working.
