Everyone I talked to were Econ majors and that wasn’t intentional, lol. I did stuff my face too with those horderves and damn I wanted to win the raffle

@calbruin no cigar on my end, don’t think I talked to any UCI transfer.
@ocnative hahah I wanted to win a raffle too but I was hoping they would give out cooler prizes. I wanted a hoodie or something

That would’ve been awesome.

That line for the financial aid booth sucked. I waited and was next in line but they told me to get inside the auditorium [-(

@AnthroFlo Telebears uses different phases for registration. During Phase 1 (months ago for continuing students, at CalSO for you) students can add up to ~10 units, usually two real classes. This is when you should get the most popular/important classes for your schedule. After everyone’s done Phase 1, phase 2 has a similar set up with dates based on seniority, and students can get up to ~16 credits. Once everyone’s done with phase 2, it’s adjustment period and people are free to add whatever/whenever they want. So, in theory you’re not totally screwed. Some classes fill up fast, though.

Class schedules can be found here: schedule.berkeley.edu
Some departments also have drafts of future schedules, like CS[/url">http://www.eecs.berkeley.edu/Scheduling/CS/schedule-draft.html"]CS, which are kinda helpful for planning.

I’m not going to lie, one hour I’m decided on UCLA, then I think about UCB and switch, back and forth, rinse and repeat.

I’m trying to look at non-academic factors, and I feel like I am giving something up if I don’t go to Berkeley. I’m really kicking myself I didn’t apply to Haas though.

@CSB111 You sound like you want to go to UCLA, but feel you should go to UCB.
I know you have been there before, but go up there again. Go visit the campus, take the BART and visit the surrounding areas. If you can’t imagine yourself living there for the next two years, your decision might be easier.
Good Luck

@ocnative hahaha I took one look at that line and I was like nope. I signed up for CalSO finally btw, are you still unsure of which date you are going?

You guys.
I still can’t decide between Cal and UCLA and the clock is ticking and OMG I’m so stressed out

@moriartee
Any info about yourself and major?

@moriartee

Just get it over with and choose UCLA. :)

I’m right there with you @moriartee. It really is a panic isn’t it?
Tell us a bit more about you (your major, the things you are into) and maybe we can give you some food for thought that can help guide your decision.

@moriartee

Just admit it…you want to go to Berkeley

@moriartee @ocnative
We’re Stanford’s rival for a reason (The rest just don’t compared :P)

@Loyshi

Rivals because Stanford and Berkeley are geographically close. ;)

Stanford > Berkeley. :D

@Cayton

Well, I think we can all agree that Stanford and Berkeley > UCLA B-)

@ocnative

Hmm, touché.

@Cayton , you denied Berkeley, so don’t feel bad
lol

@JewBacca

Yeah, true.

But I’ve already developed a healthy(Unhealthy?) sense of bruin pride.

I guess that if I ever meet a Berkeley alumnus who boasts to me about how much better Cal is than UCLA, I can just tell him that I got into both schools but chose UCLA because there weren’t any bums on the campus, the weather was better, and the women there are very attractive.

Berkeley doesn’t have those kinds of advantages. :D

Haha yeah, I have to admit, it did feel good to be able to deny the UCLA admission. I guess we are at two opposite ends of the spectrum. I am kinda over SoCal and want a change, that coupled with prestige made my decision easier.

@JewBacca

Denying UCLA is definitely something to brag about, as is denying Berkeley, in my case.

I am secretly hoping that UCLA will continue to improve in the rankings of some of its programs; it’s strong in the humanities and social sciences, but somewhat weak(Comparatively, anyway) in engineering and the natural sciences. I honestly think UCLA can continue to improve tremendously in these fields and more and maybe, in a few decades, be on par with Berkeley or even surpass it. A lot of people know that UCLA is a prestigious school, but many don’t even know that it’s less than 100 years old. It’s accomplished a lot in the 96 years of its existence. Just imagine how much more it can and will accomplish with the passage of time. Berkeley is prestigious, yes, but it’s 146 years old and is top-ranked in everything now, so I’m not really sure how much more it can improve. UCLA is still young and has a lot of room to grow. Combine that with all the wealthy alumni who contribute to the school on a regular basis, and you’ll have a good reason to believe that UCLA won’t be in Berkeley’s shadow forever. ;)

Of course, if UCLA’s academics completely rival or surpass Berkeley’s, then UCLA would be the perfect school and would be pretty OP, lol.
