Previous “■■■■■” allegations notwithstanding, I am quite interested in knowing what my chances are as a transfer student. At this point it looks like I won’t be applying to transfer for 2014, but rather, 2015 (I loathe the thought, but my options are limited), so things may of course be different one year from now:

[ *] College (LSA, engineering, etc.): LSA, if I’m not mistaken. It looks like I’m doing pre-med for psychiatry.

[ *] SAT/ACT: I have not taken the SAT or ACT. I still don’t know whether I will or not.

[ *] UM unweighted GPA: I’m not familiar with the difference between “unweighted” and “weighted,” but my “transferrable” GPA from the college I attended in California is 3.94

[ *] Course load (# of AP/IB/H, special courses, etc.): I took 5 honours modules and have 44.5 “transferrable” credits. (Of course, what Michigan finds transferrable will no doubt differ from the UC’s.)

[ *] Rank: According to the professor who wrote my reference when I applied to university before, my Honours Transfer status meant that I was in the 99th percentile of all students at my college. There were over 20,000 students there.

[ *] Other stats: I have 4 “W’s,” two of which I’m guaranteed to replace with a single “A” (they were in the same subject) and one of which I hope to replace with an “A.” Ideally I’ll be left with one “W,” then.

[ *] Subjective (ECs, special circumstances, etc): Oh boy, here come more cries of “■■■■■!” I was denied all but 1.5 years of high school by my parents, who literally had me abducted in the middle of the night and taken out to a Mormon “boarding school” (read: gulag, concentration camp, take your pick), mostly because of my sexuality/not being Catholic. (Everyone asks why my Catholic parents would pick a Mormon “boarding school,” and the short answer is that the institution didn’t openly advertise itself as Mormon.) This was an obvious setback to my education. Severe PTSD from the daily torture I endured there (psychological, physical, and sexual) has also been a bit of a bother. Given that many of the people I grew up with have either killed themselves or are on the verge of it, I’d like to think that I’ve done all right for myself. On a lighter note are my EC’s: I’m into association football; I actually want to start a proper, English-style football club wherever I end up, complete with the social aspects, as some of my best times in England were with the football club. I love filmmaking, acting, singing, and photography. I would also very much like to form a hapkido club so I could resume that. All that being said, I’m not accustomed to even thinking about EC’s (nobody cares about them in the UK or Canada, it seems), so if anyone wouldn’t mind throwing some other examples of good EC’s out there, I’d very much appreciate itit’s possible that I have really good EC’s that I don’t even consider to be EC’s at this moment.

[ *] Essays: I’ve written some for English and Psychology that were highly acclaimed by my professors; one of my English essays earned me a spot at a convention at the University of California, Irvine, where I gave presentations on the aforementioned “behaviour modification” facilities that are destroying tens of thousands of young lives in North America annually. I’d say it was a success, as it made some people cry (!). That being said, I’ve since reread my essays, and I’m personally not proud of them; I know I can do much better, and with less bias in my writing (or at least superior concealing of it :)

[ *] Teacher Recs/[ *] Counselor Rec: This is a bit embarrassing, but I have no idea what these are. Can somebody please explain?

[ *] Hook (legacy, recruited athlete, etc.): Nope. I come from a family of underachievers, and I have asthma.

[ *) Location/Person: I’m originally from California; now I’m living in Michigan (sorting out residency should be a blast); in between, I’ve been abducted and shipped around Montana, Idaho, and Utah; I’ve also (voluntarily) lived in England and Nova Scotia.

[ *] State or Country: I thought this was the previous question?

[ *] School Type: I don’t understand this one either. UCAS is so much more straightforward!

[ *] Ethnicity: Apparently white (don’t really know; mum was adopted and hasn’t a clue who her father was). That being said, I remain unconvinced that I genuinely am the offspring of either of my parents…

[ *] Gender: Male

[ *] major strength/weakness: Strength: When I’m on my game, I am unstoppable; I finish at the very top. Weakness: I’ve been off my game due to PTSD relapsing in this past year, and I don’t know how to sort it out/when I’ll be all right enough to perform as well as I previously did.

[ ] Other Factors/questions: I’ve enrolled inand subsequently dropped out oftwo universities already. The first was a very prestigious collegiate university in the UK; I withdrew for health reasons, but I’m hoping the fact that I even got in will be impressive and thus make up for that disappointment. After changing my course from computer science to languages, it made more sense to transfer to a university in Canada, but I ended up withdrawing for a rather different kind of health reason (referring this time to depression/PTSD/just plain hating it there). They maintain that I still owe them thousands of dollars, but that isn’t entirely accurate, and I also have this funny hangup about throwing even more money (they already took $6,000 from me) at people who have treated me like ***. I’m not sure if there’s a way of getting around that or notthey’re holding my transcripts hostage for the money, but I didn’t get any credits from them anyway, so might I be able to convince the universities I apply to to ignore this? I’d have sued this uni, but that’s awfully hard to do when they’re in Canada. They can essentially hold my transcripts hostage for whatever sum of money they please, and I can’t really fight them on it.

… did I mention that I have a very difficult time with concision?

Thanks to all who read this and offer advice!
