I’m working on my essays right now, and I have a unique passion that I believe will stand out and truly show who I am as a person. I plan on getting a recommendation letter from my history teacher who knows me personally beyond my work as a student. My other letter will probably come from my AP English teacher, as I got the highest mark in her class. In addition, I believe the LOR from my guidance counselor and principal will be nothing short of stellar.

Unfortunately, I do not have any significant honors/awards. I have A LOT of school awards, but no academic awards beyond school. I know this isn’t an excuse, but there are very few academic extracurricular opportunities in Canada in comparison to the States.

As an international applicant, the competition will be more rigorous, but I would like to know how you guys think I will fare. I am applying EA

Thank you for your time!!

I have read that since 2009, U of Michigan does not look at unweighted GPA, but weighted. In which case, I would have a 3.9. Anyone care to confirm this? I’ve read it on their site, yet most people still list their unweighted GPA when discussing this school.

Also, I am wondering if the fact that I am coming out of Arkansas might be a disadvantage, as very few people around me are going out of state.

And lastly, It looks likely that I will get at least in the 30’s on my next ACT, so I don’t think 29 will be my final score. Been /realllly/ hitting the books as of late.

@SpaceXdude Michigan considers unweighted GPA and course rigor as two factors. Michigan does not look and does not consider your weighted GPA. If you send it in anyways, and your transcript does not list an unweighted GPA, they will convert it themselves.

Anyone know where this information comes from, then?

[College Explorations: The University of Michigan Will No Longer Recalculate GPA in the Admissions Process](College Explorations: The University of Michigan Will No Longer Recalculate GPA in the Admissions Process)

Source says Umich no longer recalculates for unweighted.

Anyway, chance me? xD
