@jazzer98 Umich is not a safety school for anyone particularly from OOS. Indeed, it is a high match to match for you. The OOS admission rate is 20% this year. There are students with stat like yours got rejected in the last couple years in this forum.

[ *] Other Factors/questions:

@QuadrupleBond UMich CoE should be a low match for you from in state.

@golfstudent13 Both CoE and Ross are reach for you from out of state due to low admission rate and mediocre test scores.

@billcsho Hey there, I noticed you have been responding to most of these posts. Do you think you could chance my stats from page 131? It’s the last post.

What does “low match” mean as opposed to “high match”?

Low match means that you have a good chance of getting in.
High match means you can get in, but it might be a stretch.

(I think.)

@billcsho I’m just confused upon how a 2160 is a “mediocre” test score… Granted I’m from OOS, so I get that. But how couldn’t a 2160 help my chances?

2160 isn’t mediocre. It’s pretty darn good.

The major thing working against you is that you are OOS.

Being OOS, it would be a stretch to get into the engineering school.

what would my chances be? reach? high match?

It would be a reach. The CoE is highly selective and being OOS makes it near impossible.

@golfstudent13 SAT 2160 and ACT 32 are admission average for LSA but below average for CoE. They are nearly identical while the admission average ACT for CoE was 33 last year. Note that the admission average includes in state students, so these scores are even farther away from the average of admitted OOS students. All are relative. The scores themselves are great, but they are certainly mediocre amoung OOS applicants for CoE or Ross.

@j4yxson Your GPA is below admission average while your SAT is also not very impressive (particularly your CR score) for CoE. That would make CoE a reach for you from OOS. I know an in state student with similar GPA but better test score got rejected from CoE this year.
