And sempitern… all I have to say is GROW UP. I wish you the best, but seriously… you may have learned everything in school that’ll get you good grades and acclaim, but what you can’t learn at school is how to accept things with graciousness. I’d suggest focusing on that instead of trying to rip on the school. And to everyone else who is trying to compare a waitlist at Wash U to an acceptance at another school… don’t. It might make you feel better, but it’s generally not polite to try to drag the joy of others through the mud by trying to trump that person’s success. Wash U is not MIT, Caltech, or Stanford. And it’s not one of the ivies. We know that. I know it’s already been posted by somebody else before me, but some people seem not to be heeding the advice posted there. So let me summarize: stop being rude, even if you are disappointed.

Congratulations to everyone else who got accepted, and best of luck to those on the waitlist… let them know you want in and that they made a mistake in the first round. You do have the power to turn around that status.

Chalk it up to Tufts Syndrome. I know how you feel…I got deferred at my early school and I know exactly how you feel.

First thought: Hooray for affirmative action !!! (sarcasm…) Or maybe they don’t think I’m interested enough? Whatever, we started contacting each other during sophomore year. But still, it’s always easier (for me) to blame colleges for being racist.

Second thought: Is this just their nice way of rejecting everyone, by waitlisting them?

DECISION:…Waitlisted

oh well…I really shouldn’t be this mad since I don’t really want to go to WashU anyway.

A weighted GPA puts advanced classes (or APs, or whatever) on a higher scale (typically 5.0) to reflect the more difficult nature of getting a good grade in the class. So if you did okay on five AP classes, your weighted GPA could be a 4.0, but unweighted it would be less impressive.

They called me to set up an Alumni interview, I think it just depends on where you live.

DECISION: Accepted! I hadn’t expected them to mail decisions so early; it was certainly a pleasant surprise after a full week of quarter exams.
APPLIED FOR FINANCIAL AID Yes, but no luck. I was really hoping for some sort of merit scholarship, but looks like Wash U isn’t as generous with that as I’d hoped.
VISITED: Yes - and it certainly is beautiful!
INTERVIEWED: I think so, though I don’t really remember… I sent my application out in October, so it’s been quite a while.
COLLEGE: Arts and Sciences; if I end up going (currently having a hard time trying to decide between it, Williams, Duke, and Cornell), I’ll definitely be majoring in biology, considering a double major in English.
GPA: 4.2 on a weighted scale. Don’t know what it is unweighted, sorry.
CLASS RANK: School doesn’t rank.
SAT I: 1520 - 780 V, 740 M
