The Olympics

momlove, I enjoy watching that superimposed view, too. The Super-G event took place this afternoon but it’s possible that NBC waited til tonight to show it.

Have been watching the speedskating (1500) and the short track qualifying rounds tonight. Lots of fun!

Yes, that technology is super-cool. I found myself wishing that the speed skaters could see the blue line in front of them so they knew what they needed to do to catch it!

I’m afraid Celski is not going to be in the finals.

Is this a no spoiler night?

Wrong!!! :D

That was for the semi-finals wasn’t it? I think there is still a heat left to go before the finals.

Oops! Multitasking takes its toll.

Is it okay to hope that the Koreans fall down again?

Yes :D…

Absolutely. I hope.

I’ve remembered them from olympics prior, but I guess what I can’t visualize is where they’re coming from. Are people lined up along the track and ringing them? I didn’t think spectators would be allowed along the track, and it always sounds like the increase in volume coincides with certain spots along the track.

It was interesting to hear the complaints from the curling teams over noise in the arena where they were competing. I guess spectators for curling are expected to behave more along the lines of tennis and golf… you don’t yell/scream/clap, etc. until after the serve/shot. However, there are lots of people at the curling events who know nothing about the sport and are displaying poor spectatorship (if that’s a word) due to ignorance.

Interesting fashion statement by Michael Phelps sitting in the audience there.

Hey, can he grab Celski like that???

I missed Phelps - what was he wearing? There is not ounce of class in Phelps when he’s not in the water. I know lots of people who know him and no one has anything good to say.

DH and I are discussing why Celski got DQ’s when he was grabbed. Where are the expert commentators on this one?

He put his hand on the guy but after the Canadian touched him.

I am so pathetic. Since I am not at home currently and stuck at an event with my laptop only I am relying on you people and my 12 year old at home to give me short track updates!!!

I was hoping I might make it home before the final, but doubt it now…

That Celski ruling made no sense. Neither of them were in qualifying position so how could either be put through? If Celski is DQed for pushing the guy off his back, why wasn’t the other DQed for being there to start with?

Costas said they expect the final to be in less than half an hour. HURRY!

I’m no expert on speed skating but it looked to me like Celski cut so close in front of the other skater that he unbalanced the other skater. Maybe thats why he got advanced.

Interesting that the extra time the Canadians were given to train on the bobsled track didn’t keep them from wiping out. Karma?
