The Outfit You WOULD Wear Everyday If You Could

Had to provide us with more entertainment with this idea - a take off on the “how many times do you wear your clothes” thread.

We all have our warm and fuzzy security clothes - the clothes that we can’t wait to get into after work or other obligations to live in at home.

Pick your perfect weather conditions and your favorite outfit to live in at home and describe it to us. Is it your 10 year old Levi’s that fit like a glove? Your brand new Nike all purpose tennis shoes that are fun and colorful? A favorite tshirt wore and weathered from a past vacation?

Mine? My capri yoga pants. Fitted Gap tshirt with my 2013 Nike Chicago Marathon long sleeve coral pink 1/4 zip layer (didn’t run it! A friend did and always treats me with a race shirt to motivate me beyond my 5Ks!) My favorite Puma ankle socks and a pair of comfortable neutral running shoes that are good for daily wear. Ahh. Feels so good I could wear this everyday!!

Like my jeans but won’t reach for them first. Like my summer shorts, but still choose this ^^^ over everything!

I love your threads @abasket ! I used to love a pair of jeans and a tee…now, I’m more like you. I love my fitness clothes. I like my lulu capri yoga pants, a tank and a quarter zip, cushy no show socks and nike running shoes or my Ugg mocassins if I’m actually not going to work out.

Ditto on the lulu capri yoga pants. I wear mine with any of my long sleeve Splendid tees. My thorlo tennis socks & nike sneaks. If it’s chilly I add a cashmere hoodie.

Sounds like we’d all look smashingly alike if we met for coffee! HAHA

Jeans and a tee. I’m old school.

Patagonia Margot dress, I have several. Also my Zurich Birkenstock sandals.

fun, fun - I love your threads, too.

Because I don’t work outside the home and I’m too old to care what anyone else thinks, I do wear what I want everyday. But I dress up. My “uniform” is a mid-calf length or ankle length, long-sleeved dress over a sleeveless dress or slip. Flat shoes or ankle boots. When I take off the dress, I put on a caftan or robe over a gown. With matching slippers. I am fancy.

I have one old pair of college sweats, that used to belong to my kids, that I wear to clean the bathrooms or scrub the floors… because those tasks involve bleach. I wear dresses and plastic clogs and a straw hat to work outside in the garden. Some of the dresses are very casual cotton fabrics in small checks, dots, florals. I live in a very frou-frou antique house and my clothes match my house. Or so friends have commented.

Right now I’m wearing an ankle length seersucker robe because I’ve been on the phone all morning catching up with friends and relatives. (I’m so old, I have friends and relatives who still talk on the phone) I’m about to put on a dress and start vacuuming. And dusting. And running two loads of laundry. And wiping out the inside of the refrigerator. But I have all day, so no hurry.

Alh, I love your vivid descriptions. I love that you LOVE your style! Though this is not entirely correct I’m sure, I’m picturing a tweaked version of Bree VanDecamp (Desperate Housewives) out tending to her perfect flowers in her perfect garden with her matching gardening clothes, gloves and trowel! (I mean this in the most complimentary manner!)

I do get to wear the same thing almost every day: jeans (right now my son’s cast off Levi’s–I usually wear men’s jeans), long sleeve t-shirt, jacket (always cold, so must have a jacket/hoodie/sweater), running shoes. My uniform for years on end. If I didn’t have to leave the house, I’d be in flannel PJs. Summer I’d be in a bathing suit at the pool. I tend to pick a favorite outfit and wear it to death. (Aspie, I admit.)

EK, love your dress style! There are lots of those on 6pm!

less Donna Reed, more Helena Bonham Carter

basically I’m imagining myself as Vanessa Bell at Charleston, but my house isn’t quite that frou-frou

it is a country house in the middle of nowhere
and there’s a bit of modern sculpture in the garden

ETA: oh wait - not a thread about houses! lol
and reminding myself not everyone immediately thinks clothes/ living space/ style as a whole

Love my Lucy yoga pants and a comfy tee… And I am almost always barefoot!

NYDJs and a three quarter length sleeve, v neck t shirt. And sandals.

Didn’t go into work this morning so I’m sitting in ratty old sweatpants which I “repurposed” from one of my kid’s camps as well as a t-shirt I got on some bike trip. “No show” socks. Every day when I get home from work, I get out of my work clothes as fast as humanly possible and put on something similar to what I’m wearing now.

The rest of you sound “all dressed up” to me.

I prefer not to wear anything but my house doesn’t have curtains so I have to wear something decent. So my daughter bought me a Hawaiian dress with light material that I wear everyday. I put on the proper gear when I have to garden, like short and top and supporting stuff.

The minute I get home from work, I kick off my shoes and am usually in jeans and a blue workshirt, or something similar. If I go out to run errands I am in sandals year round- I hate shoes. Fortunately our weather is pretty close to perfect for that year round. If we were ever to get rain I might have to wear real shoes but that does not seem likely.

Lulu capris or leggings with a Nuu-Muu running dress and Fat Baby cowboy boots.

I am in sandals year-round too (from March to December), and I live in the Northeast!

But I love my sandals! I find them more comfortable than anything else. I run in them. I hike in them. I walk long distances in them. I bike in them. I raft in them. I go to work in them (and change at work). I guess it’s not an outfit, but it is the article of clothing I wear pretty much every single day. http://www.amazon.com/Teva-Womens-Toachi-2-Sandal/dp/B004BJ2FK4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1429116169&sr=8-1&keywords=Teva+Toachi+2+women

As for outfits, I would say my Old Navy Bermuda shorts and a Tshirt or a knee-length, cotton dress.

Lulu capris, spaghetti strap tank, 3/4 sleeve cardigan, low cut lightweight trainers. Theoretically that is my dog walking outfit, but I am happy to wear it every day, all day.
My alternate happy outfit is a certain Maxi dress in soft T shirt cotton, if the weather is warm enough

I hardly ever feel the need to strip my work clothes off the moment I come home. I carefully select the items I wear with both style and comfort considerations. If it wrinkles easily, it is out. Believe me, it is possible to find a bra that can be worn all day long. Ditto a pencil skirt suit. I pick my shoes the same way. I don’t own any high heels that I can’t walk a mile in.

But since this thread is asking about one outfit… I could live in my Tommy Bahama bikini swimsuit and cover, but only if I were in a tropical beach location.
