I have never really worn robes since childhood. Our swim team in Dallas (we swam outdoors all year) had these giant white terrycloth robes (we looked like the Klan, unfortunately) for getting out to the pool and back. They were pretty neat, but weighed about 10 pounds and you didn’t dare leave the house if the giant thing was in the dryer!
Maybe try for a 100% cotton robe–terry or waffle clothe robes are nice, depending on how warm and heavy you want. The hives sound VERY uncomfortable–have had more than my share of them!
I tend to wear flannel pants or sweatpants with t-shirts in the winter and boxers with t-shirts in the summer. I really want to get Punjammies.

I did have a conversation recently with my brother when I realized that he owned no slippers, sweatpants, or pajama pants. He sleeps in boxers and doesn’t see the point of the rest.
I looked, the robe is polyester. I’ll look for a cotton Terry robe. Maybe flannel would be nice.
I was suprised about the hives, I started itching uncontrollably within a half hour of putting the robe on. As soon as I took the robe off, the itching stopped. It was definetely the robe.
@thumper1: Don’t go to Nordstrom’s to get fitted for bras. Go to one of the fancy, lingerie-only stores. If you don’t have any near you (which I’m sure you do), there are two in my town.
When I first walked into my fancy lingerie-only store, they asked me what size I was wearing and I told them. They then gave my b%bs a squeeze – oh yes indeedy, they most certainly did – and told me right off the bat that I was wearing a too-big band and a too-small cup. They were right.
They brought in – oh, maybe 20 bras for me to try on, and most of them fit quite well.
Yes. They will man-handle – er, woman-handle you – just be prepared for that.
Some of these places also specialize in bras for reconstruction / mastectomy patients or others who have special physical issues.
And don’t get hung up on what the actual size is. Somehow we’ve all been conditioned that AA is teeny, A is small, B is just right, C is a little busy, and D is really busty and anything beyond that is just really huge. Yet the odd thing is that the cup of a 32D isn’t the same size as the cup of a 40D. Ignore what the actual size is. Cut the tag off if need be.
What VH said! Nordstrom used to have good bra fitters. Sadly, they were replaced with gals who try to sell you frilly stuff. Go to a fancy place like VH’s and try on as many styles as possible. I never thought underwire bras could be so comfortable until I got the right size and fit. I do pay a ton of money for my Marie Jo and Prima Donna bras, but with the right care, they seem to last forever (but the dang maker always comes out with a new color of my favorite styles!).
^^Yes, yes, Marie Jo!! I also love Wolford, but they never go on sale.
VH, occasionally they do. Check your Wolford boutique and see if there is anything on sale now. Also, you can get on their mailing list. 50% off before the “non-members” get 30% off.
BB, thanks! I just registered on their site, so I should get sale notices from now on.
