Thumper- we gave our D one of those Ugg robes this Chanukah. I hope it is keeping her warm in her freezing apartment.
No matching pj’s in our house since the kids were young. I stay dressed till my bath. Lounge in pajama pants and a larger sized t or tank. Switch to pajama shorts and tank for bed. I own a robe but only use it if we have guests. If I am cold in the evening I put on an oversized sweatshirt. I won’t win any fashion awards for my attire.
H wears a larger T and shorts till bed and sleeps in boxers no shirt. S does the same.
My girls sleep in pajama pants or old juicy pants and old t shirts.
We all like slippers. We have a relative who works for the parent company of Ugg so most of us have toasty feet.
I haven’t owned or worn PJs since I was about 5. I wear nightgowns. Or nothing.
I hadn’t heard of HerRoom, but I buy my bras on-line from Bare Necessities. I got fitted at a local fancy store and now just buy on-line when my bras are on sale. I agree with PizzaGirl: I only have four of my very expensive (>$100 each) bras, and I baby them like crazy. They last three or four years, IME.
^^^
Yes, if you don’t put bras into the dryer, they’ll last longer…and use a lingerie bag in the washer to avoid tangling, strap-stretching, etc. I hang-dry mine above the dryer on a cheapo lingerie hanging thingy I got at a Dollar store that has lasted for YEARS.
@wis75 most of a bra’s support is actually in the band, not straps. I know that that sounds odd, but it’s true. that is why getting the band size right is very important. If you make the straps do the work, many of us would end up with ridges in our shoulders.
At work, I wear business casual - lots of skirts/dresses/tights-leggings in the winter, skirts, dresses, bare legs in the summer. I’d say I’m usually out of those clothes and into casual stuff like yoga pants or running leggings within 1/2 hour of getting home and shorts and a tshirt in the summer. Do admit I like my running bras better than regular bras but not for sleep!
Right. Wis75 - you should be able to slip your straps off your shoulders and still be supported. I know you’re not into appearance and all that jazz, but this is foundational.
If your stuff isn’t up where it should be, you look shorter and fatter than necessary.
So do these wonderful fitting bras have a really wide band???
VH…well that explains why I look shorter and fatter!
I do need new foundations.,was going to go to Nordstrom. What do you all think of that?
Mom60…robe is very warm, and cozy. Bet it will be a huge help to your daughter!
I have a robe that I love. I think the brand is cozy chic, but I will check tomorrow. They have been sold at Nordstrom, and at some point it was listed as one of Oprahs favorite things. Also, I love my Minnetonka shearling scuff slippers. I’m not fond of uggs slippers, because they are too tall and don’t fit me well.
I have been buying bras at HerRoom since some CCers recommended it several years ago. Thank you, dear CCers! Intimacy is another good source for bras, and so is Charmelle28. Both have a small number of stores and also sell online.
Right now, I’m sitting on the lanai in my Natori caftan - calculating the NPV of our potential 2015 vacations. Mr B is wrapped in my Nordstrom cashmere tissue weight wrap because it is a bit chilly for him. ![]()
Because of you all making me think of cozy home gear, bought D a soft, cuddly fleece robe. It was only $13.40, marked down from $64. She loves it and is wearing it now and will take it back to LA with her for use while hanging around her place. Yea!
Awesome!
@1214mom - I bought my sister those sock monkey jammies for Christmas!!! I saw them at The Rack and they just called out and made me buy them. We grew up as Lanz of Salzburg people but both switched over to PJs. I wear microfleece because I am a really cold sleeper.
Yea, she’s feeling a bit sorry for herself because she’s been under the weather since Christmas and is missing being able to see her friends and relatives. The weather has been chilly for us (low 60s), so we’re all wearing our warm clothing–sweaters, sweatshirts, flannel shirts, etc. The bathroom is just perfect and has elevated her mood;
Now you know why we like our fleeces in Seattle! Hope she feels better soon!
Sorry, meant the BATHROBE–dang this autocorrect!
I bought a new robe at Soma. Ugh! I have no idea why but I broke out in hives, I thought that maybe there was a chemical on it, so I washed it. In cheer free and clear. But nope, still hives.
Even thoughi don’t like to return items that have been washed, I think I am going to try and return it. I’m sure they can damage it out. I’ve never had this problem before and I’m usually a fan of Soma pj’s.
Now I need to find a new robe, my old one is a hand me down and not in great shape.
Wis75, there’s a website called whatshebuys, and they show a cozy chic bathrobe with a zipper. I’m 5’8" and my cozy chic robe’s arms are long on me. It’s expensive, but it may be worth a try. There are probably other places to get them, but I remembered someone saying they wanted a robe with a zipper for a tall person, so figured I’d let you know.
Eta… Nordstrom has the zip up also, and they have a great return policy.
^^^
I also prefer robes with zippers. My mom started me on that. Better coverage!
@deb922 Wow…what is the material of that robe? Are you sure it’s the robe? Did you get any new bath toiletries as gifts?
