Well i think the topic has come of age as currently among the very hot topic… so lets throw the question to the whole intel crowd here.

Whats your choice of laptop and why for the upcoming college experiance ??

SM

Kenyon will be giving me a free Machintosh when I enter. And another one in my Junior year. So yeah, I have no worries about laptop issues. =)

what!!!
yeah then go kenyon, i am sure smu doesn’t provide free laptops :p

wow… and what abt others…

SM

well obviously it comes at a price. =)

But then… SMU does provide free laptops… SGD 3000 for you to go shopping arh… haha =)

I am considering an apple…
I am thinking about the new macbook, which will replace the Ibook in June… Apple is just cool

yeah macbook pro for me too…i just love the “fruit company”…hoping to see a price fall by the time i buy it!!..

??? SMU provide free laptops really??? (well maybe it’s included in the school fees, since it’s significantly higher than NUS’s and NTU’s…)

Actually no, SMU will give you some offers to choose between a laptop or a tablet PC, usually Fujitsu ones, and they cost quite a lot.

The “perfect laptop” thing is just a myth. There’s no “perfect” laptop.

hey woebee n kenyon!
I’m thinkin of a Vaio. It’s so sleek and drool-worthy. Y is kenyon giving you everything? omg… i still hav to source for a lappie below 2.5.
What’s so good bout the apple? I’ve never used an apple be4, how easy is to switch?

Apple now has a windows also… so it’s not really switching. You get the best of both worlds. =)

and erm, nope kenyon isnt giving me everything. it comes at a price like i’ve said. By the way, Duke is giving free ipods to students who take language courses!!

Vaio is not worth the money. seriously. get a fujitsu instead if you have a money. a dell is great also…

and the laptop from SMU = scholarship.

Seriously…the scholarship @ SMU is pathetic. They should call like the SMU allowance. That said, it’s better than nothing.

Free ipod for language courses? wth?!? I’ll take re-take chinese classes anytime.

Why is Vaio not worth the money. Isin’t a Vaio as overpriced as a fujitsu or a toshiba? They are all japanese powerhouses. Dell & Acer is out of the question.

I wonder how LG, Samsung and NEC is ‘reputated’ in the computer world.

has everyone forgotten HP???
personally i think hp nx is the best…only the apple power mac can compare…
in sense of looks, performace an durability…

im no expert, but i think the vaio, and HP are good. I wouldn’t buy Acer or Dell, dell has inferior internals, or so I’m told.

can anyone provide a link or explain this Apple with windows in it? What benefits of Apple’s world exactly do we get? never used an apple before

i nvr ever thought hp’s design was appealing.

I don’t really care what’s inside the lappie. At long as it serves its purpose and got a beautiful & drool-worthy design. Is that Vaio or a Fujitsu?

Toshiba tecra M4 Tablet PC!!!:)

hmm… well thats only abt a handful of names… lets c what others think abt this …

SM

Get a ibm/lenovo if you want a PC. By far the most reliable.

Do not get a Vaio, as it is overpriced crap, and do not get a fujitsu, as they use subpar components.
