There’s a new medical drama streaming on HBO/Max called The Pitt.
It’s about the ER day shift at a fictionalized major Pittsburgh Hospital. It’s one of the most accurate and realistic medical dramas available right now.
D1 watched the first ep and said it was the first medical show she’s ever seen that didn’t make her want to hurl things at the TV.
She said there were only 2 notably unrealistic things in the first episode:
-
no EM doctor would ever consider killing themselves where their colleagues would have to personally, hands on have to deal with the aftermath. You just don’t do that to colleagues.
-
during the brief Covid flashback, she wondered where in the heck they got all that fancy PPE. For the first month of Covid in 2020, all she got was a dirty N95 mask and a brown paper bag to store it in so it could be reused for weeks. She said she was personally buying welding goggles at hardware stores for herself and her nursing staff to wear at work
