To weep, or not to weep
To weep, or not to weep: that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The letters and emails of outrageous fortune,
Or to take arms against a sea of adcoms,
And by opposing end them? To be rejected: to not get in;
No more; and by a rejection to say we end
The stress and the thousand natural shocks
That applicants are heir to, 'tis a disappointment
Devoutly to be wish’d. To be rejected, to not get in;
To reject: perchance to weep: ay, there’s the rub;
For in that rejection from Stanford what dreams may come
When we have shuffled past this long wait,
Must give us pause: there’s the respect
That makes calamity of so long a wait;
For who would bear the mocking and laughter of classmates,
The oppressor’s wrong, the parents’ harsh words,
The pangs of despised love, the email’s delay,
The insolence of office and the spurns
That applicant merit of the unworthy letters,
When he himself might his rejection make
With a thin envelope? Who would bear
To grunt and sweat under a weary page,
But that the dread of something after rejection,
The undiscover’d country from whose bourn
No senior returns, puzzles the mind
And makes us rather bear those waitlists we have
Than fly to others that we know not of?
Thus conscience does make rejects of us all;
And thus the native cheer of acceptance
Is sicklied o’er with the pale doom of rejection,
And enterprises of great sorrow and grief
With this regard their currents turn awry,
And lose the name of action. - Soft you now!
The fair campus! Professor, in thy orisons
Be all my sins remember’d.

^ I’ve read that one before, in the Admission forum! Though I don’t think it was posted by you.

That was definitely me! :)

I guess you’re a fan for creative writing, huh :). Now that it’s over we can safely send that old add-a-word story about Dean Shaw to Stanford.

I know. Unfortunately, I think the mods deleted it.

Ahh…the good times… :slight_smile: :)

what a pity :(. I saved the other one though (with all the CC’ers on it).

ps) are you REALLY an avid goldfish fancier?

You have to email that story to me! (I wanted to save it, but the mods had already deleted it by then).

I’m not THAT much of a goldfish aficionado, but I do have a 100 gallon tank…

… are you bringing it to college? Because on my packing list it said the only pets allowed were goldfish, so it’ll fit you.

well, I’d say anyone who signs on regularly to a goldfish forum is a bit of an aficionado. I used to have a couple when I was little, but the maid accidentally put them in the same tank as my crabs and my pretty fishies were martyred :(.

v that’s all I have unfortunately.
