I am pretty sure there is but not sure how you do it.

Thank you!! I got it to work. I like the timeframe selections.
Any suggestions as to how to get turmeric off gel nails. I rarely get my nails done and on a whim got gel polish put on last week. I cut chicken marinated in tandoori spices last night and now my nails are all stained. I’ve tried hydrogen peroxide both alone and with baking soda. I’ve also tried rubbing alcohol all with no luck.
This web site specifically mentions cleaning food stains like turmeric off gel nails (partway down) and has several suggestions.
D did this once - one of the very few times she got a manicure! I think she googled and found that hair spray got the turmeric color off?
Thanks, I tried a few more of those ideas. Coconut oil and the lemon sugar scrub with no luck. I don’t have hairspray but I’m going to dinner tonight at a friends and she might have some.
Hydrogen Peroxide? Maybe.
I’d give a paste of Oxiclean and water a try. It takes care of turmeric stains in my sink quite well. I’d be careful about getting it on the skin. I’d “paint” the stained nails with it and let it sit for a few minutes.
Had this happen a few times. I’ve had a little luck with this homemade solution — add 1/2 tsp olive oil, 1 tsp liquid dish detergent, 1 tbsp lemon juice and lastly coarse salt to make a paste. I don’t actually measure anything so these are approximate proportions. I dip my fingers and let the paste stay on for a couple of minutes. Seems to help. And it does condition my hands nicely.
Would like to hear any solutions for a slightly different stain problem — how to remove color transfer from clothes? I’ve tried a few of the Google suggestions but nothing has worked so far.
I had a leaf green soft cotton top with a white print and white embroidery. Got accidentally washed with a red top and now I have a green and spotty pink top.
Oxiclean didn’t do anything. Wondering if dyeing it white would help. The green portions didn’t take on any dye transfer. Anybody have any ideas that I could try? It is a favorite top and I’d like to recover it.
I have never used it, but RIT has a color remover - I wonder if that might help. Don’t bleach it whatever you do as that will destroy the fibers.
What’s with all the stains this week? Went to do laundry today and noticed my mint green top has hair dye all around the neck and middle of the shoulder on the back. I wore it when I had color the other day and didn’t notice it until pulling it out of the washer. It is an athletic top and not expensive, but it was one of my favorites. What irritates me is my colorist must have known as after she dried my hair, she was running the hair dryer over the shirt; I just assumed she was drying it off as it got wet when she washed my hair. Had I known, I would have tried something different as soon as I got home instead of it sitting for 5 days and then going through the wash.
I have tried a few things, but I don’t think it is going to budge, so I guess this is now my grunge top.
@AnAsmom Look for Shout or Carbona Color Catcher sheets. Toss a couple in the wash with the item. When the catcher sheets have no transferred color, you can dry the item as usual.
Have also had success with putting original blue Dawn on the stain, letting it sit, and then washing as usual. Don’t dry til you feel the stain is gone. If you’re not sure, let it air dry. Heat will set the stain.
I’m a quilter and I use these methods when I’m washing a quilt for the first time. Sometimes it takes a couple cycles to get the dye out, but some colors and types of quilt fabrics hold a lot of residual dye. I’ve used both color catchers and Dawn (two tablespoons so it doesn’t get too bubbly) lately and have been happy with the results.
Does anyone know anyone that has done a Custom Paint by Numbers from a digital photo? I was thinking about doing this for a friend who’s dog recently died but wasn’t sure if these really look good if you can follow the instructions and paint well. BTW, I am not a painter at all in any way, except walls, and sometimes trim
I have not done this BUT I follow Chrissy Teigen on Instagram and this winter she has REALLY been into these paint by numbers! Some of them are customized - she is doing one of her family right now. The one thing I will say is that it seems that it is VERY VERY VERY intricate and not easy on the eyes or if you don’t have steady hands. She uses some type of magnifier to assist when painting.
I’ve not done a custom one (didn’t even know there was such a thing), but I have done the paint by number kits for adults - one was a failure as the numbers were printed too dark and showed through the paint (I complained and got a refund). The other, was hard to see - very faint and teeny areas to paint - took me about 20 hours, but I love the outcome. I never framed it, but I think about it.
Read every review and just know it may end up being “the thought” that counts.
That actually is quite lovely! I agree, I don’t want to make it too sentimental but I’m distant enough that if she just appreciates me doing it and not putting it up anywhere, I would never know. I may give it a try depending on cost. But gee whiz I love your painting above - I’m an impressionist kinda gal anyway and maybe I’ll do one of those for my dining room which I’m having difficulty figuring out what to put in there! EDIT: I think I failed to say in either post, although you probably figured it out, it would be a painting of her dog, maybe her and her dog together, haven’t decided yet.
