I am still watching but no mug. I wouldn’t be so annoyed but shipping was high and the tracking number didn’t work and I really wonder if the seller had paid for tracking.
Boo!
Random question.
Don’t know why I’ve never thought of this but H has terrible skin and sees a derm at least twice a year. I don’t know if she has suggested a daily lotion with sunscreen for his face but I’d like to get him using one.
Is there one that a male in your life likes to use on a daily basis? H would
Not want anything froo-froo or costly. I would like it to be at least SPF 30. Not actual sunscreen but a daily lotion with sunscreen
H uses Neutrogena Clear Face (breakout free-oil free-oxybenzone free) 50, but this is sunscreen. Also comes in 30. He wears it daily, puts it on in the morning. We have 300+ sunny days.
Neutrogena 70 in the summer, 30 in winter.
Wow two votes for the same brand!
This month Wirecutter rated Banana Boat Light as Air Face SPF 50 as their top pick; I tried it, it is non-greasy. I previously used Neutrogena Faces but this feels lighter on my skin.
DH uses CeraVe AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion with SPF 30.
My husband doesn’t use anything, but if I were to have him try something it would be Cerave or Cetaphil.
I use Cerave every morning, and when I’m exercising outside I use Neutrogena spf 40 or higher on top of it.
Appreciate the recommendations!
What do you mean by terrible skin? Oily? Dry? Rosacea?
Our dermatologist recommends Cerave and Elta products, especially for those with sensitive skin.
I use Cerave as my moisturizer but when I am going to be out in the sun for a while, like at the beach, I use Elta.
This one is a moisturizing sunscreen UV Daily Broad-Spectrum SPF 40 | Moisturizing Sunscreen | EltaMD®
Our derm recommended this one for my son tho as he is prone to acne but it is also good for people with rosacea:

He had terrible acne when younger, many, many oversized moles and such on his back - it’s quite awful. He’s had a couple removed and gets checked often - but his face is exposed daily to sun - don’t know why it never dawned on me that he should use something. My daughter actually bright it up.
He always wears a shirt in the sun even when swimming - part for protection, part because he is self conscious of his skin
Sunblock needs to be reapplied often. SPF 30 means every 30 minutes if actively doing some outdoor activity. A good hat is also helpful. I made a habit of having a sunblock tube by the front door, so when we leave, I always smear some on Mr.’s face. He complained at first but now for used to it.
For facial lotions, he likes Baxter products. They have a light citrus scent and are not greasy. But don’t have sunscreen in them.
SPF 50 is good for 50 minutes? If so, learned something new everyday!
He won’t wear a hat of any sort. He’s not out for hours but it just seems like an easy thing to do a couple times a day with his history.
I’ll purchase one of the above and give it a try!
Hmm… That’s not what this article from MD Anderson says:
A sunscreen’s SPF is a measure of how well it protects you from getting a sunburn. But a higher SPF number doesn’t necessarily mean better protection from sun damage.
…
A sunscreen’s SPF is a measure of how many harmful ultraviolet rays it absorbs or reflects away from your skin.
…
SPF 30 is usually high enough
If you pick SPF 30 and reapply at least every two hours, George says you’ll be making a good choice. “A higher SPF might give you a little more wiggle room if you didn’t apply enough sunscreen, or you forgot to reapply,” says George. “But after a point, going higher doesn’t mean you are getting dramatically more protection.”
And from another quick-check source:
SPF refers to the amount of UV radiation it takes to produce sunburn when wearing sunscreen in comparison to how much UV exposure it takes for unprotected skin to get sunburned. But, contrary to popular belief, SPF does not tell you how long you can stay in the sun without getting burned.
Regardless, I always assume reapply when sweating or wet more often!
Yes, anything above 30 is good for about 30 minutes or so. After that, reapply.
30 minutes? According to both of my dermatologists, sunscreen should be applied every 2 hrs, not every 30 mins. I’ve had melanoma, as has one of my dermatologists, so I’m very careful but I trust their expertise.
Perhaps open a case with Etsy. Another option is to contact your credit card company. Best of luck, so disappointing.
