I know there are a number of fellow SYTTD fans on Parent Cafe. For anyone who has tuned out the Atlanta version ( including me) the new season begins this Friday at 9 pm! From some of the previews there will be a bride looking at 50K PTornie gown! Can’t wait to hear what other fans think of the new season.
Cheers!

Thanks for the reminder. The original is def. the best.

Thanks for the reminder! I’ve been misssing Randy…

My, my, $50,000 for a dress . . . . Makes sense if you’re Princess Diana or Kate Middleton, but for the rest of us common folk . . . My, my.

Should be fun.

One of very few shows left on TV after Oprah took over Discovery Health and replaced it with her very boring shows. I watch them both, I do not care too much which one, I just like to see dresses, the same as “What not to wear” and “American Top Model”. I wish that they never show them talking though, I do not care about drama, I want to see nice clothes as I stopped shopping myself and go to the stores only when my D. asked me for her shopping. However, my very favorite is Gypsy wedding. I do not know what happened to it, I miss it. Those gypsy dresses were absolutely unbeatable, no others could measure up to them, that Liverpool lady, who does them from bride’s sketches is so talented!!

Am happy to have our NYC consultants back, but must admit I’ve kind of warmed up to Atlanta as well - Lori and her crew seem to have mellowed out a bit.

The series I DON’T love is when they do Plus-Sized brides on shows of their own. I mean, what is the problem with mixing all sizes together? I always wonder what the rationale is for having a plus-size show.

I am liking the Atlanta version much better this season. I don’t even seem to mind when they call for “jacking up the dress” which I found so annoying at first.

I like the NYC version because it seems so out of reality. People spend a lot on their dresses but the brides are usually older so they may have more money to spend.

I’m with you abasket, I am not fond of the plus size show either. They had a bride on the Atlanta version who was a little heavy. She kept finding dresses she liked but they couldn’t be made in her size. She finally found a dress which was way outside her budget, which they bought. I felt so bad for her and her family. I think it really brought home that at least in bridal fashion, it’s different when you are bigger.

I still don’t like the Atlanta version. Can’t wait to see the NYC/Kleinfeld’s version back on Friday! The only one not happy is DH - since it means he will spending the evening in the basement since he can’t stand the show!!

^He can move his TV from the basement or put TV in another room in addition or watch tablet while sitting by you. I am at the kitchen table when I watch, since I never just watch TV, I am multitasking, TV is way too boring otherwise, I use it also to fall asleep in my bedroom.

I’m so excited. can’t wait to see this year’s dresses. Hopefully there will be fewer fairy hooker dresses.

Given the filming schedule, I guess it’s probably too early to see what affect the Kate Middleton dress will have…but hopefully more girls that just the orthodox Jewish ones will want sleeves!

Sleeves and straps!! I’ve seen enough back fat and quadruple-boobs to last a lifetime.

I did not like Kte’s dress at all, but she apparently had restricitons, while common folks do not. I hope the industry will not go this direction. Her sis’s dress was much more exciting.

D and I LOVED Kate’s dress, especially the sleeves. I agree with zm - I’m pretty sick of hooker dresses and even some of the strapless dresses. I’m ready for something different.

Missy, my D - not Jewish - has always wanted a Kate-type dress with lace and sleeves. I figure that by the time D actually gets married, she might have more styles to choose from, thanks (in part) to Kate’s influence.

Bring on the hooker fairy dresses! But not too many, please. Yay, I’m excited. My H is definitely not going to be thrilled, but he can tough it out - he usually surfs the web on his laptop and pretends that he is not watching :)

My H is usually snoring (goes to work very early a.m.) on the couch by time SYTTD comes on. I am queen of the remote from 9p.m. onward most nights! He has seen the show a few times and thinks it’s ridiculous.

Another snoring husband; but mine says he is awake! Friday nights I watch what I want, but the other nights, we watch together. We both are on out computers or reading the paper while watching tv anyway, so I will sit through his shows and he mine. If I really don’t want to watch what he is watching, I just head to the bedroom.

I guess, we are the only ones with 2 TV’s in the same place. H. is wearing head phones watchin his. Mine is on kitchen counter, so that I can do something on the kitchen table when TV is on. It is getting more and more boring, though, I am missing “Mystery Diagnosis” and others of sort.

PackMom, LOL. For the number of hours of the American Choppers and Jim Cramer I had to endure, I’m entitled to control our remote on Friday nights for the rest of the year! :D

…the last TV my H. bought was $150… Not worth fighting over remote.
