I must be the only person in the world who liked the GoDaddy commercial. My kids certainly hated it. I thought it was over-the-top, sexist, and gross, and funny. (On the other hand, I hated the women from 2 Broke Girls poledancing.) I also liked the Paul Rudd/Seth Rogin Samsung ad, in part because I really like Paul Rudd and Seth Rogin, and because I thought the ending was great (“I could do a cameo on a tablet!”).

The “farmer” Dodge Ram commercial was also great.

I thought it was a bit creepy–perhaps I have a sick mind. I thought of the line in “The Truth about Cats and Dogs” in which the pet expert tells a caller, “It’s OK to love your dog, but it’s not OK to looooove your dog.”

Am I the only person that wanted to barf at the farmer commercial? It’s almost as bad as Lincoln trying to be subtle about jamming a guy in a stovepipe hat into every commercial.

I guess I have a sick mind. I am a sucker for an old owner joining a long-lost animal. It reminded me of the lion finding his old Autralian owners. That’s from a few years ago.

Yes the Budweiser commercial was manipulative, but I teared up anyway.

I liked the Audi bravery commercial, too. And I enjoyed the Calvin Klein commercial for very different reasons :)

I hated the concept behind the Babyland commercial so much, even though it was cute. Seriously what is so wrong with explaining how the human body works?

I loved the VW and the Tide commercials best. I have to confess, I didn’t watch them during the game - that’s when I leave the room or start talking or something. I saw them online. The Coca -cola one with the security cameras has been around online for months - and it’s longer!

Did everyone else love Alicia Keys? I thought she did a great job.

Loved Oreos in the library, Audi bravery, teared up at Oprah’s voice, thought Farmer one was so well edited/directed, laughed at the oldster getting his back tattooed, thought Budweiser one sweetly done, gagged at GoDaddy, like looking at Paul Rudd no matter what, thought Poehler a little strained, was not as amused as they intended by VW or Tide (sorry greewitch), and openly disliked babylandia if that’s the one where the dad forces his kid to sing “Wheels on the Bus.” Therapy ahead for that kid. heh. Loved Beyonce, loved that staging/projections oh my! Loved her reunion with Destiny’s Child. But wondered (seriously) if that quick striking of her set and all it’s amazing gizmos and electronics could have overloaded the circuits that caused the subsequent power outage. heh. ??

So many of the commercials were violent - but it is football.

Of course the Budweiser commercial was manipulatively sentimental. Commercials are supposed to manipulate. I’m such a horse lover that I cried as soon as the foal stood up!

I liked the VW and the Amy Poehler commercials.

Paul Harvey makes my skin crawl. And now for the rest of the story, God drives a Chevy truck.

His voice brings back strong and precious memories of spending time with my father. He loved listening to NPR and we would often hear Paul Harvey’s “rest of the story” pieces as we were driving around…

So what was so gross about the godaddy ad? Was it that she was so attractive and he wasn’t? That it was close up of a kiss? If it had been two other people, say for a mint commercial, would people be som"ick"?

That was what bemused me. I would say, though, that the commercial intended to be a gross-out. That it worked says a number of things about all of us, I fear.

Unfortunately, the memory I have was of listening to him on the way to school. My best friend’s dad would take us to school in his little Corvair. We were squeezed into that little death trap and we weren’t allowed to speak while Harvey was on. It felt like punishment and I could not abide his tall tales.
