Anyone watching? The season premiere last night was intense! I adore Matt Czuchry and have been waiting for this show to start. It’s on again tonight.
I am. Add me to the Matt Czuchry adoration society.
My D and I are texting and professing our undying love for him. Lol!!
I can’t accept Cary Agos as a doctor. Sorry. He’s a lawyer and always will be
And, yet I still think of him as Logan.
He’s Logan to me, too!
I choose not to watch fictional medical shows. I’m a physician and the reality shows presented are as much as I can take. Too unrealistic in past experiences… things just don’t work that way. The ads I saw made me shudder.
Thought it was truly awful. Too bad. I liked him in the good wife!
My DH (family doc) wondered if it would be intense shots of them filling out forms for mobility scooters.
Haven’t seen it but our good friends (couple) are both physicians and HATED it. They said it was so unrealistic and damaging. It sickens them that people might think that the show portrays how hospitals and Drs are. Having worked over thirty years don’t think I’ll watch it either.
I want Rory to show up but she’s a handmaiden so no crossing over…yet.
I liked it a lot. I think doctors need to get over themselves about TV shows. I certainly have had to as a lawyer! My God, it’s TV!!! If people want to think it’s real, well, maybe they should stick to politics.
I watched and it was fun. I’ll keep watching because I really like the actors.
I didn’t think it was portraying real stuff. If I wanted reality, I’d watch a documentary. I don’t think there is a scripted show that accurately portrays any profession.
It’s over the top for being unrealistic!
I still have nightmares about my H being a resident–never mind him! Don’t want to relive the reality, and don’t’ want to see the reality distorted. (People have much more acute expectations about doctors on the whole, compared to lawyers. I am sure that lawyer shows are distorted too, but I don’t think it’s a subject that brings out the emotional connection compared to docs–not to denigrate at all, just because health/life/death are about as elemental as it gets.)
H did think that some of ER captured the feeling of an emergency situation pretty well–which gave him flashbacks. Liked House because it was more about the critical thinking of diagnosis, which fascinated him when he was a doctor himself. Overall, he’s not a fan of doctor shows.
@mom2twogirls - I think you are right. I love “parks and rec” but know there is probably not a parks dept in the country that works like that. It is just funny to imagine them doing a show depicting real resident life. Which would be really boring and sometimes sad.
During an interview on one of the morning shows, Logan/Cary grinned and said that his mom was really proud, bcos he became both a lawyer and a doctor. ![]()
And that’s what makes it great!
Haha trust me @garland, there definitely are people with very strong feelings about lawyers. My dad has almost a pathological hatred of lawyers. In my more passive aggressive moments of teendom, I considered becoming one just to spite him.
@garland, what do you mean by “acute expectations”?
hmm, good question. Why did I write that?
Okay, I think we see doctors more likely in emergency situations, life and death often, or at least potentially, and we need them to be right, right away, for often very good reasons. We need them to be perffect or near it, because it’s our lives. It’s less common for most people to need lawyers in that way (though of course for some, the consequences can be pretty dang severe.) We all see doctors, often several times a year. Often more. For most people I’d guess, lawyers are not an integral part of their lives.
Maybe i’m wrong? But that’s my take.
